UPMC Health Plan is hiring a full-time Onsite Health Educator II to support the Life Solutions team! This role will predominantly work Monday through Friday standard daylight hours, with occasional evenings and weekends as needed. This is a hybrid role that will work from home and will also require travel to clients throughout the Pittsburgh region.
The Onsite Health Educator II serves within the Health Plan’s health promotion department. The Onsite Health Educator II functions mainly to provide support for health and benefit fairs, health screenings, and other ongoing projects within the department. The Onsite Health Educator II: Works with others in the Health Promotion department to plan and coordinate events for employers and community groups Staffs events for employers and community groups, including weekends and evenings as needed. Performs health screening measures (such as body mass index) and reviews health screening results with participants. Training provided. Performs preliminary research and findings on industry trends and data pertinent to events, screenings and program activities.
Responsibilities:
Engage members in onsite wellness offerings and events as specified in annual strategic plans. Plan, coordinate, implement, facilitate and evaluate employer health promotion programs. Engages members who have specified risk factors in the collaborative development of a personalized behavior change plan to address the risk factor(s) in conjunction with their physician or health coaching when appropriate. Understand readiness to change and correctly refer to appropriate health enhancement programs and services. Competently apply knowledge, skills & training with clients regarding motivational interviewing techniques. Employs motivational strategies for encouraging individuals to explore motivation for change and enhance readiness Accurately documents member or account contacts in a timely fashion: reviews with events manager Deliver best-in-class wellness education as part of single service delivery or a strategic annualized plan. Assess members’ readiness to address targeted risk factor(s) Provides timely feedback to employer leadership and individual primary care physicians as necessary regarding program offerings Assist in research, review and interpretation of published literature on fitness, nutrition, smoking cessation, stress, & weight management. Perform educational evaluations on biometric screening results, including blood pressure, cholesterol, glucose, body mass index and other clinical measures. Develops and maintain awareness of and competence in the use of behavior modification skills and best practices to engage members for sustainable behavior change. Proven administrative abilities, excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment with a minimum of supervision required Assist in writing and editing health promotion media and articles for in-house. Facilitate collaboration between external health resources and UPMC Health Plan Maintain knowledge of UPMC, UPMC Health Plan and community health resources. Ability to organize, implement & evaluate small-mid-large market wellness solutions both operationally and creatively to meet client’s needs & expectations. Research, collect & categorize on Share Point site, pertinent health articles that could be used for members for marketing materials at health fairs. Review key pieces segments w/team & share w/product development for evaluation and approval. Review employer group/individual member health information including but not limited to Health Risk Appraisals data and Biometric Screening results and triage to appropriate health promotion programs.
