Ontario County Re-Entry Peer Advocate Ontario County, NY (Onsite) Full-Time $16.00 - $17.00/Hour Apply Now (https://flacra.jobs.net/apply/jqt6gt5zmbrg4qt41v3?ipath=CR¬ify=true&siteid=cbnsv) Job Details Job Title:Ontario County Re-Entry Peer Advocate Location:Ontario County Jail Employment Type:Full-Time Job Summary: In alignment with FLACRA’s mission, vision, and values, theOntario County Re-Entry Peer Advocateprovides vital peer support services to inmates with substance use disorders. Working under the supervision of the Program Director, you will serve as a role model by sharing your personal recovery journey, teaching effective coping skills, and advocating for clients. You will work alongside a counselor on-site at the Ontario County Jail, assisting inmates in regaining independence and mastery over their recovery process by leveraging recovery resources such as booklets, tapes, pamphlets, and other materials. Minimum Qualifications: + High School Diploma or GED. + Must be at least 18 years of age. + Completion of NY State-certified Peer Support Specialist training through OMH or OASAS. + Valid NYS Driver’s License. + Ability to participate in an on-call rotation, including overnight coverage. + Peer Support Specialist Certification(CRPA-P or CRPA) required. + + Lived experience with substance use disorders and/or mental health recovery is required. Skills & Competencies: + Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. + Ability to work cooperatively with culturally diverse individuals, staff, and community service providers. + Strong understanding of recovery principles and the specific needs of the inmate population. + Proficient in multitasking, problem-solving, and time management, with the ability to remain calm in crisis situations. Job Requirements: Key Responsibilities: + + Team Participation: + Serve as an active member of the inmate’s treatment team by participating in team meetings and treatment planning sessions. + Recovery Planning: + Assist inmates in developing individualized recovery plans, including the creation of psychiatric advance directives and crisis plans. + Psychoeducation & Support: + Provide psychoeducational sessions focused on illness management and peer support. + Serve as a role model by sharing your recovery process and teaching effective coping techniques and self-help strategies. + Case Management & Advocacy: + Provide case management support by coordinating services, resources, and referrals as an extension of case management services. + Advocate on behalf of inmates, ensuring they have access to the support they need. + Documentation: + Maintain accurate and comprehensive records for all assigned cases to monitor client progress and support treatment outcomes. + Training & Development: + Participate in required training programs to maintain certification and stay updated on best practices in crisis intervention and early engagement. + Additional Duties: + Perform other related duties as assigned to support program objectives and continuous improvement initiatives.
