Required applicants must have completed a Doctor of Philosophy [PhD] in Nursing or related field. Three (3) or more years teaching in a PhD Program. Evidence of success in an extramurally funded program of research; Active engagement in research; Evidence of successful dissemination of research findings. Responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to: + Provide leadership for the PhD Program within the School of Nursing + Establish and maintain a nationally recognized PhD in Nursing Program through: + Academic oversight of the program including management of course assignments, as well as provision of recommendations for policy, curriculum, and program changes + Ensuring the PhD Program meets academic accreditation standards and maintains a standard of excellence for the PhD program as outlined by national bodies in nursing education (e.g., the AACN). + Ensuring that the standards and policies of the School of Nursing, Graduate School and the University are met in the PhD program. + Leadership of the appointed PhD admissions committee + Market and recruit students into the program. + Make available a list of alumnus and faculty members for applicants to communicate with about the program. + Conduct Information sessions for potential applicants. + Make personal phone calls to highly qualified applicants and encourage their completed applications for the program. + Leadership to faculty for assessing and managing student progression in program and coordinating procedures for those who meet milestones, including monitoring changes in student status each semester. This includes working with faculty to resolve student conflicts, inefficient student committee issues and other progression issues as they arise + Development of the PhD Program of study with the SoN faculty members + Maintain a funded program of research through external funding + Experience in Quantitative research + Improve and maintain retention in PhD Program graduate students in their program of study. + Update the doctoral student handbook yearly. + Provide general advice/counseling to PhD students and see that they are assigned a permanent major advisor as quickly as possible. Also, assisting students in changing major advisors if that is needed. + Coordinate procedures as students approach graduation. Ideally, faculty advisors should review student audits the semester before the anticipated graduation to ensure that students have met all requirements. For those students just placed on academic probation, program directors will assist students and faculty in preparing a Conditional Retention Plan + Provide professional development for students – travel to present, seminar series, professional organization information. + Provide orientations, and social events for students. + Follows up on students who graduate. Employees who work at least 20 hours a week, with an appointment of at least 4.5 months, are eligible for benefits. Time Off- A generous leave program offers multiple paid leave options: Front-loaded Paid Time Off: 128 to 208 hours (16 to 26 days) of Paid Time Off based on years of service, given at the start of each fiscal year. PTO may be prorated in year one based on date of hire. Extended Illness Bank: 8 hours (1 day) accrued per month which can be used for illness or injury after one day of Paid Time Off is taken. Paid Family Leave: Up to 240 hours (6 weeks) to care for a spouse, child, or parent after 6 months of consecutive employment. Holidays: 12 set paid holidays each fiscal year.
