The Department of Emergency Medicine at the Joe R. & Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine at UT Health San Antonio is recruiting for highly qualified full-time residency trained academic Emergency Physicians for faculty positions. Our expansion is due to an increase in our coverage at our main clinical site and to staff our Multi-Specialty and Research Hospital site starting December 2024. Optimal candidates will have an established track record of peer-reviewed research, excellence in education and outstanding clinical service. We offer a wide variety of opportunities for program development and scholarly productivity in many aspects of emergency medicine and care. The successful candidate will join an enthusiastic group of academic Emergency Physicians committed to creating the premiere Emergency Medicine residency program and academic department in Texas. Candidates must be BC/BE in Emergency Medicine. Candidates with fellowship training or experience in the following areas are encouraged to apply:

A state of the art 93,000 square ft. Adult Emergency Department with 80 beds opened in early 2014. In 2023, a brand new Pediatric was built as part of the University Health Women’s and Children’s Hospital. It also is the premier adult and pediatric trauma center for a vast, 22-county region of South Texas, as well a designated comprehensive stroke center, STEMI center, and ECMO/resuscitation center.
UT Health Multispecialty and Research Hospital, scheduled to open December 2024, is focused on cancer and advanced surgical care. The Department of Emergency Medicine will staff the Acute Care Clinic (ACC), a 24/7 advanced urgent care for patients. The ACC will be dedicated to patients who seek care at the hospital for their emergency needs.
