SUMMARY:  The Department of Nursing at Rowan University invites applications for non-tenure track teaching professor positions (rank commensurate with qualifications and experience) beginning Fall 2025 to add diverse experience and expertise to its nursing faculty and to support the growth of current and developing programs in nursing.

JOB DESCRIPTON:

The Department of Nursing at Rowan University invites applications for a non-tenure track teaching professor position (rank commensurate with qualifications and experience) to begin Fall 2025. The department is looking for candidates who have the passion and drive to enhance these programs, foster inter-professional education through collaboration across departments and schools, and with both the allopathic and osteopathic medical schools at Rowan University, and develop new programs that prepare the workforce to provide high quality healthcare to diverse populations in southern New Jersey.

The successful candidates will have strong clinical backgrounds in advanced practice nursing and nursing practice, with an interest in nursing education and community/public health and will be expected to teach graduate and undergraduate courses in nursing. They will also have demonstrated cultural competence, sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds of students, faculty, and staff, and commitment to a student-centered environment.

Other responsibilities include advancing the mission of the department by contributing to the development of new and innovative programs in nursing, workforce development and inter-professional education, as well as service to the department, college, university, and professional and wider community. Online teaching and/or off-campus teaching is an expectation of the position.

Candidates for this position are required to have a doctorate in nursing (PhD, DNP, or EdD) or related discipline, experience in nursing education, experience in advanced nursing practice, and an established record of teaching, service, and experience with mentoring nursing students.

Upon offer of employment, candidates will need to obtain a NJ RN license, if not already licensed in NJ.

Starting Date: September 1, 2025

Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience

General Information: Teaching professors are 10-month positions, and successful candidates will teach a total of 24 credits over two semesters, with the option to teach overload and the possibility of teaching summer classes for additional compensation. While these are non-tenure track positions, the initial 2-year contract is renewable, with expectations for continuing renewal of three years, and then five years per contract. In addition, the position has a promotion path from assistant to associate and associate to full teaching professor and includes benefits.

The Department of Nursing is one of three departments in the Rowan-Virtua Rita & Larry Salva School of Nursing & Health Professions, along with the departments of Allied Health and Health & Exercise Science. The department’s undergraduate RN to BSN program and MSN programs are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). In fall 2024 Nursing welcomed its first cohort into the Cooperative BSN program, a collaboration of Rowan Nursing and Our Lady of Lourdes School of Nursing.
