Open Rank Assistant or Associate Professor/Clinical
The Division of Endocrinology and Diabetes, Department of Pediatrics, Joe R. & Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine at UT Health San Antonio is seeking a faculty Assistant or Associate Professor/Clinical. Compensation will be commensurate with the candidate’s experience.
The qualified candidate must be board-certified or board-eligible in Pediatric Endocrinology and eligible to hold an unrestricted Texas medical license.
The position requires strong clinical skills, a commitment to clinical research, and the skills to precept the fellows in our 3-year ACGME accredited fellowship as well as residents and medical students The Pediatric Endocrinology division has 8 faculty members, 3 diabetes educators, 3 nurses, 4 MAs and one social worker in clinic plus administrative and inpatient staff. The candidate will share clinical responsibilities in outpatient clinics and inpatient consult service call as well as the opportunity for protected academic clinical research time. Current research includes NIH, private and pharmaceutically funded projects focused on Type 2 Diabetes, Type 1 diabetes bionic pancreas pediatric clinical trial, comorbidities of genetic obesity, and social determinants of health in diabetes. Other ongoing investigations include 11 Center of Excellence Programs including one for pediatric thyroid nodules led by Dr. Gary Francis, Pheo Para led by Dr. Patricia Dahia, and the newly awarded Therapeutics Development Network for cystic fibrosis related diabetes and liver disease research led by Dr. Maria Rayas. Our division collaborates with the co-located adult diabetes care clinics and research facilities at the Texas Diabetes Institute led by Dr. Ralph DeFronzo.
