Open-Rank Teaching Professor, Social Work

Rowan University’s newly launched Social Work program invites applicants who can teach in the Master of Social Work (MSW) and/or Bachelor of Social Work (BSW). This full- time, non-tenure track, faculty member will join a growing team at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Teaching Professor beginning January ‘25. This is an exciting time for Rowan and we seek an experienced, energetic, and collaborative practitioner who is committed to excellence in undergraduate and graduate social work education.

 

Position Requirements:

Applicants must possess an MSW from an accredited program as well as a DSW/ Ph.D. in Social Work or related field (ABD may be considered). The ideal candidate will be licensed with 2 years post MSW experience - a broad range of practice/ research areas of focus will be considered, have experience teaching at the college/ university level, be familiar with technology and learning management systems, demonstrate strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills and be committed to mental health, equity, and well-being.

 

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Workload equivalent to 12 credit hours of teaching per semester in MSW/ BSW core courses (in-person and online). Experience teaching at the undergraduate or graduate level is preferred. Course development: The position is open to candidates with a broad range of practice/ research experience, but an ability to teach from a defined area of specialized practice e.g. policy, research, or direct clinical practice is preferred. Engage in curriculum development that uphold CSWE best practices and standards Assist in accreditation activities such as goal setting, implementation and evaluation. Outside of teaching responsibilities, faculty may be asked to assist with advising, practicum supervision, and other student support. Faculty must set aside weekly office hours for students and attend faculty meetings.

Starting Date: January, 2025

Salary: Competitive General Information: Teaching Professors are 10-months full-time, non-tenure track teaching faculty. Successful candidates will teach a total of 24 credits over two semesters, with an option to teach overload and summer classes for additional compensation. Teaching Professor positions receive an initial 2-year contract that is renewable, with expectations for continuing reappointment. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the US, and the university will not sponsor an applicant for a work visa for this position.
