Classification Title: Assistant Professor College/Division: College of Education Department: CED Educational Studies Advertised Job Summary: The Educational Research/Educational Psychology ( EDRM / EDPY ) Program in the Department of Educational and Developmental Science at the University of South Carolina invites applications for a tenure track position of open rank in Educational Research. The anticipated start date for this position is August 2024. Applicants at all levels of the professoriate are invited. Applicants should have expertise and a line of research related to/with a focus on educational measurement/psychometrics. Desired skills include proficiency in big data analysis techniques such as: educational data mining, random forest analyses, machine learning, predictive analysis and/or research design techniques such as: propensity score analysis, regression discontinuity, or causal analysis. Along with EDRM / EDPY faculty membership, the successful applicant will be associated with the Institute for Rural Education and Development ( IRED ) at the University of South Carolina (https://www.sc.edu/about/centers\_institutes/rural-education-and-development/index.php). The successful applicant will: (1) pursue a line of research leading to publication and external funding; (2) collaborate and with IRED members on center activities; (3) teach core and specialty courses in the EDRM program area; (4) serve on doctoral committees and advise entry-level students; (5) provide leadership in the EDRM / EDPY program; and, (6) provide program, department, college, and university committee service. Advertised Salary Range: Salary commensurate with experience. Advertised Minimum Qualifications : Candidates must have: (1) an earned or near completed doctorate prior to start date of position in a related program (e.g., educational research, educational measurement, educational psychology, quantitative psychology); (2) a track record of R1 level scholarship and evidence for obtaining external funding; (3) teaching experience in educational research, statistics, and/or measurement courses (including as a teaching assistant); and (4) experience working with and/or mentoring students. Applicants must exhibit proficiency and skills to work as part of an interdisciplinary team and collaborate with faculty across the program, department, college, and university.
