Summary:
The Operating Engineer operates boilers and controls generation of a continuous supply of steam for heating and air conditioning for supplying power to machinery and auxiliary equipment such as the Laundry, Dietary and sterilizers. Operates valves and controls to change building from heating to cooling. Tours boiler room and associated equipment rooms to observe operating equipment, meters, gauges to ensure correct operation. Notifies supervisor and/or appropriate technician when major repairs or assistance is required. Records in appropriate logbooks all specified readings of meters, gauges, etc. Uses specific chemicals and reagents to test boiler and cooling tower water to maintain required residuals. Files a summary report of all activities in the daily power plant.
Experience/Education Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent preferredCurrent experience in boiler plant operations and/or heating, ventilation, and air conditioning.License or Certification Requirements:
