The Operating Room Aide is responsible for performing duties relevant to the care of patients as exercised in either the Operating Room, Emergency Room, Cast Room, Recovery Room, or hospital nursing units.
Special Instructions Monday-Friday 11:30am-8pm ResponsibilitiesAssists with the care of patients in the Operating Room; preparation of patients, lifting, moving, positioning and restraining of patients; physical support to patients during procedure; assistance to surgeon with application of plaster casts and removal of plaster casts.
Transports patients to and from patient floor, Operating Room, Recovery Room, and Emergency Room.
Assists with checking, receiving, distributing and storing supplies to provide safe, clean and comfortable environment.
Operates autoclaves.
Performs cleaning duties according to daily, weekly, and monthly schedules.
Functions as Nursing Aide on hospital nursing unit as requested when Operating Room is not busy.
Collects Quality Improvement Data as requested.
Transports specimens as directed.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Three months experience as a Nursing Aide on hospital nursing unit.
Successful completion of hospital approved Nursing Aide training program.
Additional training may be required to work in particular areas.
