Operating Room Charge Analyst / Patient Care Assistant - Fulltime (Days) - Easton Campus

This position will ensure charge optimization through hospital charge function and will be responsible for performing all charge related functions for the assigned clinical department(s) in accordance with established charging policies and procedures per supporting documentation contained in the patient record – both electronic and those remaining on paper. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: + The Operating Room Charge analyst performs the charging functions for the Operating Room, Ambulatory Procedure Unit, Anesthesia department associated with surgery in accordance with established charging policies and procedures per supporting documentation contained in the patient record. + Performs charge reconciliation for the Operating Room. Reviews and balances charge reconciliation report each day for accuracy. + Provides ongoing education to clinical staff on the appropriate application of charges available for their department. Identifies charting deficiencies with impact charging. + Assists management in identifying areas of opportunity for improved charge capture. + Reconciles OR, APU and Anesthesia, time charges, sales reps order sheets used for reordering and restocking with nursing documentation, reconcile impulse monitoring time charges with Kronos punches and other reconciliation + Demonstrates ability to work with staff and material management with updating and maintaining charge systems. + Completes Patient Care Assistant responsibilities as needed. PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS: Sitting for up to 8 hours per day, 3 hours at a time. Consistent use of hands and fingers typing, telephone, data entry, etc. Occasional twisting and turning. Uses upper extremities to lift and carry up to 10 pounds. Stoops, bends and reaches above shoulder level to retrieve files. Hearing as it relates to normal conversation. Seeing as it relates to general vision. Visual monotony when reading reports and viewing computer screen. MOST COMPLEX DUTY: Application of charging policies and procedures in the clinical environment. Ability to review patient charts/records and apply charges appropriately while also analyzing the chart/record for possible deficiencies. SUPERVISION (RECEIVED BY AND/OR GIVEN TO): Supervised by Operating Room Manager or other assigned manager. COMMUNICATIONS: Excellent written and oral communication skills required in order to communicate effectively with all internal and external customers. Frequent communication with department managers, clinicians and physicians. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION: High School diploma, knowledge of surgical terminology. Advanced clinical or technical training focused on understanding of charging system, role of material management, ability to use hospital charge crosswalks. Ability to review charge capture events and understand the perioperative phases of care. TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Formal training and/or experience in Medical Terminology, and/or Hospital Charge Policy work is strongly preferred.
