OR Service Leader Responsibilities
• Ensures the effective and efficient functioning of the unit and the achievement of optimal patient outcomes. Delivers safe, high quality and cost-effective preoperative services. Demonstrates an integrated approach toward case/patient outcomes.
• Identifies strategies for cost-effective and efficient practices without compromising preoperative patient safety or outcomes. Promotes creative thinking among staff, peers and colleagues to develop new and innovative devices, practices and strategies to advance and improve preoperative nursing services.
• Serves as primary liaison, clinical lead and resource for the assigned surgical specialty and/or unit while ensuring unit compliance with quality, safety, regulatory requirements and the Joint Commission standards.
• Adheres to all Inova Health System's policies and procedures while coaching staff on compliance and consistently identifying clinical and operational variables affecting patient and case outcomes. Makes clinical decisions based on education and experience while integrating varied patient experiences into clinical decision-making. Mentors team members in identifying intra-operative outcomes.
• Ensures practice improvements by serving as role model, providing direction and providing guidance to others regarding preoperative services and specialty.
Requirements:
Two years OR nursing experience related to the unit’s scope to include ophthalmology is required. Previous OR Service Leader, Charge RN, Management or Clinical Coordinator experience is preferred. BSN graduate from an accredited school of nursing required, MSN preferred. RN licensed to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia. BLS Certification (AHA) required. Proficient computer skills is required. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be highly effective at leading a team and fostering a team environment.
