Operating Systems Administrator (Secret Clearence Required)

The Operating System Administrator is responsible for managing and maintaining the organizations systems to ensure high availability and security at Fort Irwin. The individual in this role should have in depth knowledge of operating systems administration, system optimization, and adherence to DoD cybersecurity standards.

Responsibilities

Install, configure & maintain Windows & Linux operating systems on servers & workstations.

Monitor system performance, optimize resources, and ensure system security.

Apply patches and updates to operating systems manually & by automation.

Troubleshoot & resolve operating system related issues promptly.

Collaborate with the cybersecurity team to implement security measures and ensure compliance with DoD standards.

Conduct regular system backups and recovery procedures.

Perform SCAP scan & STIG checklist.

Perform database management.

Operate using active directory & group policy object management.

Qualifications

Active DoD Secret Clearence.

Minimum 1 year experience working UNCLASSIFIED & CLASSIFIED environments.

IAT-II certification is required (CompTIA Security+, CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, or SSCP).

CompTIA Linux+ or Server+ required.

Proven experience as an operating system administrator (System Administrator, Technologist) or similar role.

In-Depth knowledge of operating system administration and optimization.

Familiarity with DoD Cyber Workforce standards and requirements.

Strong problem solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
