Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and dependable Operation Technician to operate and maintain mechanical sampling equipment at multiple bulk terminals handling coal, coke, and petroleum coke. This role requires strong time-management skills, the ability to follow directions, and a commitment to working safely and efficiently. Excellent customer service skills are also essential.
ResponsibilitiesClean exterior and interior components of a mechanical sampling system using compressed air, water, or hand or powered tools.Remove material buildup, plugging, soil, or spills from equipment, facilities, walkways, platforms, grounds, offices, tools, and vehicles.Observe mechanical sampling system (MSS) and mechanical part-stream samplers (MPS) frequently and in detail during operational and static conditions for performance and condition.Record and assess sample ratio data, record weights, tonnages, equipment parameters, loading sequence tracking, and sample identification tags.Proficiency with Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.Work rotational shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, with overtime as required.Exposure to various weather conditions, including significant high/low temperatures and all forms of precipitation.Perform tasks involving brief or extended periods of walking, standing, ascending/descending ladders/stairs/sloped walkways, and walking or kneeling on uneven/unstable/weather-affected surfaces.Basic mathematics skills and proficiency in using Microsoft Word, Excel, data-entry, and a calculator.Essential SkillsProduction and machine operation.Equipment maintenance and operational management.Mechanical aptitude and documentation process.Proficiency with Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.Sample testing and data entry.Ability to understand, read, and write in English.Basic mathematics skills.Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.Legible handwriting and use of a calculator.Additional Skills & QualificationsMUST BE COMFORTABLE WORKING OUTSIDEMUST BE ABLE TO WORK A ROTATING SCHEDULEData entry skills.Basic math skills.Use of a calculator.Work Environment
The work environment includes exposure to significant high/low temperatures and all forms of precipitation. Tasks involve brief or extended periods of walking, standing, ascending/descending ladders/stairs/sloped walkways, and walking or kneeling on uneven/unstable/weather-affected surfaces. This is an outdoor and dirty position, which can be very hot or very cold depending on the seasons.
The schedule follows a rotating shift pattern, including days and nights, with shifts of 7AM-7PM or 7PM-7AM, including half days on Wednesdays.
