Reporting directly to the Supervisor, Operational Compliance, the Project Assistant supports the Operational Compliance team which provides services to both gaming and non-gaming departments. The Project Assistant supports the leadership team and Operational Compliance Specialists by performing various technical, analytical, and administrative support duties. The Project Assistant is responsible for reviewing programs, procedures, and processes to assess compliance, quality, and effectiveness. This position is also responsible for assisting Operational Compliance Specialists in the tracking of audit remediation deadlines and follow ups. The Project Assistant may also provide administrative support as needed to ensure completion of special and/or technical projects, reports, and other related duties.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities1. Creates, organizes, and maintains project tracking logs and enterprise-wide internal control filing system. Composes, revises, and edits correspondence, reports, memos, etc. Prepares final reports to communicate outcomes of quality assurance testing activities for the Operational Compliance team.
2. Reviews changes to policies and procedures to ensure adequate controls and segregation of duties. Assists in review, implementation and efficiency of quality and control processes. Assists the Operational Compliance Supervisor in coordinating meetings and revisions for internal controls with both San Manuel Tribal Gaming Commission and Casino Accounting departments.
3. Assures ongoing compliance with quality and industry regulatory requirements in both gaming and non-gaming departments by completing several regulatory assessments independently. Plans, conducts, and monitors testing and inspection of processes to ensure quality output.
4. Supports onsite audits conducted by both external and internal providers. Assists Operational Compliance Specialists and leadership in periodic reviews, implementation, and efficiency of quality and control processes. Project Assistant assists specialists maintain rapid assurance reviews timelines by assisting in data mining, verifying documentation, and participating in other activities to complete the review.
5. Performs other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the department.
Education/Experience/Qualifications High School degree or GED is required. Minimum of three (3) years career experience (administrative or technical) in quality assurance, internal controls, program effectiveness, program improvement and/or regulatory matters relating to the National Indian Gaming Commission Minimum Internal Control Standards, Bank Secrecy Act, Anti-Money Laundering, and/or Office of Foreign Assets Control matters. Minimum of one (1) year of experience in audit/project management. Prior casino gaming regulator experience is preferred. Intermediate proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, and aptitude for learning information systems. Must be a self–starter and team player that is motivated and eager to learn.
