Operational Excellence Director Job Summary
The Operational Excellence Director is responsible for improving the coordination and tactical implementation of corporate initiatives. The Operational Excellence Director will focus on operational readiness for programs to be rolled out in the BU, working closely with Global groups, and reporting to the VP of Operations. The Operational Excellence Director will collaborate closely with Regional Directors and Functional Directors to drive key result areas and efficiencies for stores.
Expectations for Operational Excellence Director:
Ensure that initiatives are ready for execution before rolling out, and drive coordination on cross-functional initiatives within the Business Unit.Develop a tactical plan and successfully implement it to meet the goals of the Business Units strategic and annual plan.Lead team of Operational Excellence Managers, Loss Prevention Managers, and Communications Manager to improve operational processes and drive results.Review sales and gross margin plans for stores in the Business Unit.Recommend and review Loss Prevention programs in conjunction with Operational Excellence.Monitor control of cash, inventory, and any other assets in the BU.Review and recommend store rebuilds, remodels and other asset improvement projects.Ensure best practice transfer between regions within areas like sales performance, operational perfection, local innovation etc.Work with the operations teams to improve execution of programs.Take responsibility for the execution of programs with the Business Unit.Work with the operations teams, and BU VP to help prioritize the projects and pace / schedule for executing approved processes.Represent the Business Unit on different steering committees and become a single point of contact regarding operational sales issues.Participate in business driver meetings and make sure corporate processes are aligned and standardized.Prepare and participate in Business Unit meetings and business reviews.Contributes to team effort by accomplishing Financial and Key Result Area targets pursuant to Company plan guidelines.Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 5 years of retail experience or related field preferred. Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted. 3-4 years of operations experience with preference on store operations preferred. Team leadership capability, including building teams and motivating others for high performance and setting them up for success. Data and Analytics skills. Excellent presentation and communication skills. Strong operational understanding – including operational characteristics of Circle K BUs across North America. Out of the box, strategic thinker – willing to take some risks on programs that could yield significant improvements. Effective collaborator, work in and across teams. Ability to influence others. Proactive execution focus, ability to drive change and deliver results in an organization. High level of comfort with technological advancements and high level of intellectual curiosity. Strong Project management skills. Must be computer literate in MS Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
