The Operational Risk Manager Sr. position will be responsible for leading the continuous advancement of our 2nd Line of Defense oversight for our Enterprise Payments Segment as well as Merchant Services and Funds Movement operations. This role reports to the executive leadership within the Corporate Operational Risk Pillar. The position’s core responsibilities can include people leadership, conducting quantitative and qualitative risk assessments, ongoing governance of the operational risk frameworks, policies, and charters, serving as Committee Administrator, and driving analysis to support the oversight and assurance that business processes are being conducted as designed and within defined risk tolerances.
The newly developed position will play a key role strategically defining and prioritizing objectives and outlining the strategic direction for our 2nd Line of Defense program. This position will interact with various levels of leadership the Corporate Operations and Enterprise Payments business segments, along with our 1st Line of Defense Risk Partners. It will be key for this person to be in close contact with our Segment leaders and 1st Line of Defense Risk stakeholders to ensure a clear understanding of the various objectives within our Enterprise Payments and Funds Movements Operations. Additionally, this person will assist the Operational Risk Director identify and prioritize deliverables, as well as develop executive level presentations for senior management, be a key participant in external exams, and internal audits related to our Enterprise Payment and Funds Movement initiatives overall Risk Management practices.
The successful candidate will need strong communications skills, the ability to work independently yet indirectly lead and provide guidance to Huntington colleagues within Operational Risk Management and Huntington’s business segments. In addition, the candidate needs to demonstrate a proven track record in Risk Management, have strong knowledge of Funds Movement and Payments including underlying data/technology trends and guidance, as well as related regulatory and compliance standards. The candidate will demonstrate the ability to lead projects of varying size and complexity, exercise sound judgment, exercise the ability to utilize and leverage data analytics/key metrics, with the ability to successfully influence business partners.
Duties and Responsibilities:
+ Conducts risk assessment process for Funds Movement and Enterprise Payments from an Operational Risk Pillar perspective
+ Serves as key liaison between business segment and Operational Risk Management, while delivering Operational Risk expertise to senior business management by partnering to assess operations, identify and assess risks and formulate effective changes to business practices to mitigate Operational Risk
+ Monitors pertinent key risk indicators and investigates and reports on adverse movements or aggregation of risk across segments and business units
+ Identify, develop, and analyze metrics and key performance indicators to enable the measurement or risk to ensure segments and programs are meeting business objectives
+ Supports the independent risk assessments and risk management process reviews, and independent representation of Operational Risk Management (ORM), including effectively influencing colleagues and leading initiative outside of the Operational Risk organization
+ Support the enhancement of ORM analytics including the development of scorecards and dashboards, as well as identification of tools and techniques to automate our analytical environment while assessing and recommending tools and techniques to automated information systems control verification processes
+ Lead Second Line of Defense Operational Level committees as assigned, participate or present in Management level committees and leading or participating in working groups/committees to address and resolve issues and provide Operational guidance
+ Identifying and recommending solutions for negative trends or risk events and leading implementation of operational risk strategies and initiatives
+ Develops and maintains Operational Risk policies, procedures, process maps, and manuals as required, and complete operational reporting for the Operational Risk Committee (ORC) and Pillar Risk Assessment (PRA)
+ Actively encouraged and engages with colleagues to champion Huntington values and behaviors
+ Participates in issues management workstream and may serve as credible challenge or stakeholder for Operational Risk related issues and findings
+ Resolves, and when appropriate escalates issues to expedite decision making.
+ Performs other duties as assigned
Basic Qualifications:
+ Bachelor’s Degree
+ 7 years of related experience in Risk Management
+ 3 years of management/leadership experience
+ Advanced knowledge of risk management principles and regulatory compliance requirements with a deep understanding of the payments industry and funds movement activities
+ Strong organizational, analytical, critical thinking skills, with a high degree of attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Advanced Degree (Master’s etc.)
+ A Team player with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build strong partnerships and work collaboratively with as well as influence internal leaders in a cross matrixed organization
+ Strong verbal and written communications and the ability to communicate and present requirements and issues clearly and concisely
+ Demonstrated ability to quickly analyze situation, assess risks and identify paths of action
+ Proven ability to deal with ambiguity, navigate through complex situations and think independently
+ Demonstrated focus on continuous improvement with results-driven experiences

Compensation Range:
$140,000-$180,000 Annual Salary
The compensation range represents the low and high end of the base compensation range for this position. Actual compensation will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. Colleagues in this position are also eligible to participate in an applicable incentive compensation plan. In addition, Huntington provides a variety of benefits to colleagues, including health insurance coverage, wellness program, life and disability insurance, retirement savings plan, paid leave programs, paid holidays and paid time off (PTO).
