Operational Technology (OT) Engineer - Hybrid

Heidelberg Materials is seeking a qualified OT Engineer to join our team in the Philadelphia, PA.

What you’ll get to doBe the chief subject matter expert and consultant for Automation + Electrical (A + E) portions of plant, regional and corporate capex projects, providing valuable insight into the deployment aspects, supply chain conditions, adherence to guidelines/standards and commissioning burdens. Liaison the relationship between our facilities and vetted vendors (system integrators, electrical and networking contractors) to ensure consistent quality and delivery of services and goods. Work as part of the NAM A + E Team to develop guidelines and procedures to promote standardization and streamline deployments. Represent regional concerns and be cognizant of sites within region which pose risk to returns due to current electrical and automation conditions. Ascertain opportunities for improvement and author project charters for A + E improvements with a solid path to ROI. Coordinate and work alongside NAM IT in the improvement of our site connectivity infrastructure to promote our drive for IIoT. Essential Experience and SkillsMeets at least one of the following key education / experience requirements:Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, IT, or Business A well-articulated solid track record of accomplishments in same competencies (Process Control or Electrical Engineering, IT/OT Architecture) with vocational training or individual certificationsAdequate experience (3+ years) in aggregate/quarry or tantamount industrial operations within our organization or similar business in line with the additional requirements of this role Understands the mining working environment of quarry and plant sites, inculcated with an uncompromising safety culture and proper use of PPE.Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, as well as internal and external customer service skillsAbility to communicate with diverse groups of employees ranging from non-technical operations personnel to upper-level management.Ability to work extended hours as needed to meet changing deadlines. Willingness to travel within North America (US/Canada) on short notice (Average 60% travel, carefully consider this when applying) - This role is primarily focused on the support of aggregates and asphalt operations in the northeast and midwest regions of the US, however travel to other regions may be require from time to time.Demonstrates a high competence in OT network design and cybersecurity, has experience with switch and firewall configurations (Cisco/AB Stratix preferred)At a minimum understands and has worked with medium voltage electrical switchgear (MCC) and has firm grasp of ‘cardinal rule’ electrical safety practices such as LOTOTO and Arc Flash BoundariesPreferred Experience and SkillsPrevious experience in control systems engineering, preferably in the aggregates, asphalt, cement, or heavy industrial sector.Strong knowledge of control system principles, distributed control systems (DCS), programmable logic controllers (PLC), human-machine interfaces (HMI), and process automation.Proficiency in programming languages such as ladder logic, structured text, or function block. Working knowledge of multiple control systems is preferred.Experience with control system hardware, networking, and communication protocols.Experience with industrial ethernet gateways, OPC UA/DA, clients and tunnellers.Familiarity with cybersecurity principles and practices for control systems.Familiarity with digitalization, artificial intelligence, data historians, and expert systemsFamiliarity with power metering, instrumentation, control devices, motor control centers, switchgear and control panel design and engineering.
