Operational Technology SCADA Specialist

We are looking for a SCADA specialist with experience developing and maintaining manufacturing automation systems using Ignition and MQTT. You will be responsible for assisting of requirements gathering, designing, implementing, testing, and troubleshooting SCADA applications. This position will also include support of facilities and the process controls within these sites as applicable. Interface with various departments including engineering, production, operations, and IT staff. Assist teams in troubleshooting communications and network issues as applicable. This position relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Develop and maintain SCADA applications using Ignition and MQTT

Design and configure graphical user interfaces, data acquisition, data processing, data storage, data visualization, and data reporting using Ignition and MQTT.

Integrate SCADA applications with various PLCs, sensors, devices, and other systems using Ignition and MQTT protocols and drivers.

Knowledge of Microsoft SQL

Conduct preventative maintenance on SCADA systems including upgrading or patching software.

Experience working with HiveMQ preferred.

Experience working with the MaintainX CMMS platform preferred.

Qualifications

Proficient in Ignition 8.1+ software and development

Solid understanding of industrial control systems such as, SCADA, IIoT, MES as it pertains to Operational Technology

Familiar with MQTT concepts, features, and benefits, such as pub-sub, brokering technology, and security.

Experience in working on projects that include cross-functional departments within I.T.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Communication – possesses exceptional writing and verbal presentation skills enabling her/him to prepare and present information and recommendations to a broad and diverse audience

Skills and abilities

Proficiency in the use of the English language in reading, writing and speaking

Ability to learn new computer software applications quickly

Logical, process-oriented nature

Ability to communicate clearly via video conference, phone and email with customers, vendors and co-workers

Ability to identify and pursue opportunities for improvement in business processes and systems

Must work out of the Grand Rapids, MI corporate office.

Travel expectation is up to 10% per year.

Working Conditions

Working environment is generally favorable.  Requires sitting at a desk for long periods of time. Some traveling is required.
