Operations Analyst
Overview

SIG is seeking an Operations Analyst to join our team in our Bala Cynwyd headquarters.  In this role, we are seeking an analyst with demonstrated knowledge of one or more of the following products: energy, commodities, fixed income, equities, options, and/or securities lending. This knowledge will be instrumental as you will be working side by side supporting our traders gaining exposure across the full spectrum of operational roles on a trading desk. Your knowledge of the lifecycle of a trade as well as how exchanges and clearing firms operate will also be heavily utilized as you will be responsible for the settlement and reconciliation of trading activity, resolving any trade breaks, manage fee activity related to trading that is taking place on the desk. 

 Additionally, you will have responsibility to generate and reconcile the daily Profit and Loss (PnL) and positions as well as support ad-hoc reporting requests that may arise throughout the trading day. Your role will be that of an active collaborator as you will be working with our traders as well as with clearing agents, internal teams, and related third parties. We will also look to you to drive process improvements and efficiencies related to reporting and overall trade support activities. If you are excited by the opportunity to leverage your operations and financial products knowledge and build upon that as you evolve in your career, we encourage you to apply to this role today.  In this role, you will: Create and reconcile daily PnL and positions by business unit and report information to the back office operationsResolve trade discrepancies and issues with clearing agent and associated third parties (where applicable)Research and resolve questions, disputes, and data errors in the settlement computationsSupport traders for all operational issuesAssist accounting department with monthly reconciliations and yearly auditsParticipate in and provide insight related to system development, product implementation and on going maintenance of market settlement/risk management softwareDemonstrate and maintain a strong level of understanding, knowledge and expertise in financial products being traded on the desk; provide operational support for trading activity taking placeDevelops and maintains strong relationships with internal departments and external organizations to answer questions and resolve issuesClearly communicate complex technical concepts both in a written and oral mannerContinually monitors and refines workflow and business processes to meet the goals to improve/enhance settlement process; identify process improvement opportunities to increase accuracy, efficiency and timeliness related to desk processes, procedures or systems utilized to support daily activitiesNotifies appropriate staff/team members of key issues
What we're looking for
Bachelors degree in finance, accounting or a related discipline requiredPrevious experience in a similar role requiredDemonstrated knowledge of one or more of the following financial products required: futures, energy, commodities, options, fixed income and/or equitiesAdvanced Microsoft Excel skills required; working knowledge of Microsoft Access strongly preferredMust possess excellent communication and time management skillsDiligent and meticulous with strong attention to detailStrong organizational and prioritization skills requiredAbility to improve established processes and leverage technology resources essential
