Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Technician

The Tait Generation Station is a combustion turbine and diesel generator facility. The facility includes seven gas turbine units, each equipped with a GE 7A6 electric generator, coupled with a GE 7EA gas turbine with a nameplate capacity of 94 MW and four GM diesel locomotive generators with a nameplate capacity of 2.5 MWs.

Additionally, the Kimura Project includes 34 individual generating units installed at six sites in Ohio and Indiana, with a total capacity of 972.5 MW. The units include 19 combustion turbine generator units, 14 diesel generator units, and one PV solar unit. This fleet is connected to the PJM system, providing generation capacity and ancillary services.

Opportunity Summary

The Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Technician is critically tasked with supporting the start-up, shut-down, and normal operations of power plant systems, ensuring optimal performance and reliability. This role involves operating major auxiliary apparatus, performing tests, inspections, and minor repairs, and executing orders from the Control Room Operator to maintain proper operating conditions. Additionally, the technician will travel as needed to support O&M for all Kimura Project sites, contributing to the overall efficiency and success of the project.

Fully support the use of a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) by displaying proficiency in using the system, entering data consistently with fellow employees, and dedicating to the facility's maintenance philosophy. Thoroughly record equipment problems on Maximo work requests and document maintenance actions taken on work order forms. Handle corrective maintenance and preventive maintenance work orders in a timely and high-quality manner. Show diligence in documenting spare parts usage and re-ordering. Read meters, gauges, or automatic devices to record data such as temperature, vibration, hours of operation, pressure, and fluid levels to verify operating conditions. Visually inspect and listen to equipment at periodic intervals to detect malfunctions or the need for repair, adjustment, or lubrication. Diagnose the cause of mechanical malfunctions or failures of operational equipment. Repair, replace, dismantle, and examine defective parts, and lubricate and clean parts as needed. Use a fluke meter and other test equipment to calibrate and repair plant instrumentation and electrical circuits. Assist in troubleshooting and inspecting programmable logic controllers, plant control systems, and distributive control systems, including control card replacement and wiring terminations.
