Operations - Chief of Staff

The COS is the behind-the-scenes leader, the crucial torchbearer guiding the organization’s day-to-day rhythm. They demonstrate every day, a blend of sharp leadership and keen problem-solving skills, and they navigate the organization’s complexity with precision to achieve the broader objectives. This role serves as the primary air traffic controller for all activity within Operations; as the senior integrator, connecting workstreams and people that would otherwise remain siloed; provides critical communication linking the leadership team and the broader organization; recognized as the honest broker and truth teller especially when the DOO needs a wide-ranging view without concerns for politics; and most importantly, serves as a confidante, trusted advisor and sounding board without an organizational agenda. This individual is viewed as a strong leader with critical thinking skills and the ability to communicate with all levels of the Bank. Candidate must possess strong communication, leadership, problem-solving and time management skills. **Essential Duties and Responsibilities:** + Steers strategic business initiatives from genesis to fruition. + Leads effort to transform vision/ideas into reality and monitor their progress. + Guides senior leaders with expert advice to enhance overall team efficiency. + Keeps meetings focused; planning and coordinating them effectively. + Demands structure, processes and defines tools to achieve efficiencies across the organization. + Sets key performance indicators to measure and improve team performance. + Pinpoints and addresses core issues within business processes. + Completes special projects and initiatives with skillful oversight and support. + Evaluates risk factors when making critical business recommendation. + Identifies areas of improvement across the organization and makes actionable recommendations. + Leads multiple staff functions that provide horizontal support across all of Operations to achieve consistency and standardization. + Promotes ethics and compliance; identifies opportunities and takes action to enhance compliance within the organization; completes internal testing to ensure compliance. + Responsible for interviewing, hiring, planning, assigning work, appraising performance, progressive discipline and resolving problems. + Provides leadership, direction and growth opportunities to members of the organization in accordance with the Company’s policies and applicable laws. **Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:** + Bachelor’s Degree required; Masters Degree preferred or combination of education and work experience. + Minimum of 8-10 years of industry experience required; 10+ years preferred + Must have minimum of 8-10 years of personnel management / leadership experience + Must have 8-10 years of financial services experience **Physical Requirements:** + Must be able to travel domestically as required for site visits, etc. **Hours** : + Monday - Friday + 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM **About Us:** First Horizon is a leading regional financial services company, dedicated to helping our clients, communities and associates unlock their full potential with capital and counsel.
