Operations Coordinator

At Select Plant Hire, part of Laing O'Rourke, we pride ourselves on being one of the UK's leading suppliers of equipment and services to the construction industry. We're looking for a proactive and organised Operations Coordinator to help deliver outstanding service to our customers and support the smooth running of our department.

In this role, your focus will be ensuring that our customers receive a professional, prompt, and efficient service every time. You'll work closely with the department manager to support workforce management and handle key administrative tasks. Plus, you'll be the go-to person for responding to customer queries quickly and accurately.

We're looking for someone with a confident, resilient personality who can stay calm under pressure, adapt to changing situations, and tackle challenges head-on. You should be comfortable taking the initiative, making decisions, and maintaining a positive attitude even in demanding circumstances. Location: Dartford, Head Office. (Monday-Friday)

What will the role look like?

Manage administrative tasks such as timesheets, payroll inquiries, processing expenses, and issuing memos and safety notices. Oversee fatigue management, monitor working hours, track vehicle usage, and address any concerns. Assist with tendering processes and provide supporting documentation for bids. Contribute to financial reporting, including quarterly reviews and contract reviews. Conduct thorough vetting and onboarding of team members for high-security sites. Assist in client meetings to align quotes with project requirements and scope. Address discrepancies related to quotes, charging, and commercial issues. Support department manager in site visits, risk assessments, and safety discussions. Participate in Safety stand-down days and maintain training records for personnel. Book and organise training, researching training options as necessary.

What skills & experience are we looking for? 

Strong IT proficiency and the ability to work with various software applications. Passion for delivering excellent customer service and a keen interest in the role. Basic knowledge of Word, Excel, and Outlook Able to work effectively under pressure.
