Key Responsibilities:
Accounting Operations:
+ Perform journal entries, account reconciliations, and account analysis as part of the month-end close process.
+ Analyze and calculate inventory, ensuring accurate reporting and tracking.
+ Prepare and maintain financial spreadsheets for detailed analysis and reporting.
Cost Accounting:
+ Develop and maintain cost accounting systems to track manufacturing costs and provide insights for process improvement.
+ Analyze production costs, including labor, material, and overhead, to ensure accuracy and identify areas for efficiency.
+ Collaborate with operations to develop cost standards and budgets and monitor variances.
+ Generate cost reports to support management decision-making and profitability analysis.
Insurance Claims and Workers' Compensation:
+ Manage insurance claims related to property damage, liability, and other business needs, ensuring timely reporting and resolution.
+ Oversee workers' compensation claims, working closely with HR and external partners to ensure compliance and effective claim management.
+ Monitor trends and provide insights to mitigate risks and improve safety measures.
Financial Management:
+ Collaborate with the Director of Finance to assist with corporate tax planning and compliance.
+ Support preparation and review of annual financial statements for external CPAs and interim financial reports for lenders, creditors, and insurers.
+ Assist in contract administration for large equipment purchases.
Proactive Solutions:
+ Identify areas for operational improvement and streamline accounting and insurance processes.
+ Provide insights and recommendations to improve financial efficiency, safety, and compliance.
Team Collaboration:
+ Work closely with the human resources department on cross-functional projects related to employee policies and compliance.
+ Coordinate with safety and transportation teams to monitor and resolve compliance issues.
Qualifications:
+ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required).
+ 5+ years of experience in accounting operations, including cost accounting, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
+ Strong knowledge of journal entries, account reconciliation, and inventory analysis.
+ Experience managing insurance claims and workers' compensation processes.
+ Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with accounting software and ERP systems.
+ Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
+ Proven ability to work independently and proactively address challenges.
Requirements
Qualifications:
+ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required).
+ 5+ years of experience in accounting operations, including cost accounting, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
