Location Description The Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania facility is 1,120,845 square feet and home to about 470 hard working team members who are proud to produce iconic pet food brands like Kibbles 'n Bits® and 9Lives®. This location has a cannery that produces wet dog food and there is also a Distribution Center on-site. Bloomsburg is home to Bloomsburg University, a municipal airport, a landmark Town Park with many acres of recreational activities, and has one of the largest and longest running fairs in the country. With so much to do and see, Bloomsburg is a great place to live, work and play! Responsibilities Are you ready to take on a pivotal role in a dynamic and fast-paced environment? As an Operations Director, you will be at the heart of our large plant operations, overseeing multiple units and ensuring excellence in people safety, food safety, quality, financial performance, morale, customer service, and compliance. This role is not just a job; it's a key stepping stone to senior leadership positions like a Sr. Site Director of Site VP role. Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Act as a strategic business partner, coordinating activities across all departments to ensure top-notch decision quality. Talent Development: Optimize and develop talent at all levels, from hourly to salaried employees, through thoughtful planning, assessment, and action. Problem Solving: Lead daily production meetings to address and course-correct issues, ensuring we meet and exceed our deliverables. Accountability: Hold employees accountable for results and behavior, fostering a culture of excellence in line with our company values. Innovation: Oversee new product commercialization, new installation commissioning, and new process introductions, keeping us at the forefront of the industry. Key Responsibilities: Develop and adjust strategic plans, operational budgets, and staffing to meet production needs. Foster a high-performance environment with strong employee engagement. Collaborate with all departments to drive strategic decisions. Implement continuous improvement and lean manufacturing practices. Align operations resources with key manufacturing tasks and business strategy. Identify and solve performance constraints, leveraging company-wide expertise. Develop talent through effective planning and assessment. Address facility issues through daily production meetings and actionable plans. Ensure accountability for results and adherence to company values. Create efficient work processes and common systems for measuring performance. Maintain customer service by managing plant capacity constraints. Lead new product and process introductions. Qualifications EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree required. Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Management, Science or related field preferred. EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 10 years manufacturing experience, with a preference in food processing/packaging Minimum of 5 years management experience at either the Operations Manager or Plant Manager level Previous experience in a union environement is helpful Proven results using continuous improvement tools and root cause analysis techniques. Able to effectively build relationships and inspire others. Able to balance analysis, wisdom, experience, and judgement to make timely decisions. Exemplifies company values and shows resilience in a variety of situations. Mentors Operations Managers, Operations Supervisors and other leaders within the plant and across the company. Preference for mobility and willingness to take on broader assignments for additional development opportunities.
