Position Summary

Under the direction of the Assistant Camp Director, assist in the cleaning, maintenance and repair of the camp’s buildings, grounds, equipment and other facilities as well as assisting with the facilitation of recreational activities consistent with the mission and established policies and procedures of the camp.

Essential Functions

Our operations workers mainly work in minor repairs, facility care, landscaping, set-ups for our guest groups, cleaning up from our guest groups, etc.  They also work in both the housekeeping dept. and guest service dept. as the need exists.

Operations related tasks as directed by the Assistant Camp Director, including but not limited to the following: Trash Runs, Clean and Set-up rooms, Move furniture & sound equipment. Mop Floors, Clean bathrooms, unclog Toilets. Assist in “flipping” camp lodging for guest group usage. Landscaping – mowing lawns, leaf blowing, weed whacking, sprinkler repairs, tree trimming, etc… Snow removal and ice maintenance. Minor repairs – plumbing, building, equipment, facilities, etc. Assist with the facilitation of recreation activities for guest groups. Operate some equipment such as mower, wood splitter, or snow plow, in safe and efficient manner. At times, help the guest services dept. with hosting groups Assist with housekeeping duties to ensure the property is ready for guest groups. Be aware and make necessary changes to hazards found on campgrounds. Perform all duties in accordance with camp policy and procedures, risk management guidelines, and American Camp Association accreditation standards. Assist with emergencies as needed. Assist with other needed tasks at camp as assigned.

Working Conditions

May be asked to use a variety of equipment such as vacuums, lawn mower, weed eaters, saws, ladders, pressure washer, non-power shop tools, etc.  Might be asked to drive Golf Carts or Gators. 

Minimum Qualifications    

Must be at least 18 years old of age. Ability to follow through with assigned tasks Ability to work on a team, relate and work well with others. Ability to accept guidance, direction and supervision

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

Ability to understand and implement safety regulations and procedures Ability, both visual and auditory, to identify safety hazards and monitor guest and staff behavior and enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures Ability to walk, stand, bend and stretch Ability to lift, up to approximately 50 pounds, and occasional lifting of equipment. Ability to safely and properly use maintenance equipment Physical ability to respond appropriately to situations requiring first aid. Must be able to assist campers in an emergency (fire, evacuation, illness or injury).
