About this role

The Operations Graduate Program (OGP) at Volvo Group Trucks Operations (GTO) is a global 15-month program where you are offered the perfect mix of on-the-job learning and diverse training modules. You will get the chance to use your knowledge and creative skills while gaining valuable experience working with real products on real business topics.

 

The Volvo Group North America Operations Graduate Program (OGP) does not offer current or future sponsorship.  Individuals with temporary visas or who require sponsorship for work authorization now or in the future are not eligible for the program.

What you will do

Main activities and responsibilities: …
The Regional Buyer Americas reports directly to the Logistics Purchasing Director Americas and will be a member of the global Purchasing network. This role is crucial for ensuring that logistics operations are efficient, sustainable, and aligned with the corporate goals. 

 

Main Duties:
•    Tender Management: Oversee the entire tender process for logistics services, including the analysis and evaluation of Requests for Information (RFI) and Requests for Quotation (RFQ). Conduct supplier meetings and negotiations to secure target terms and conditions.
•    Regional Purchasing Accountability: Responsible for the procurement of transportation and logistics services for specific commodities within the region, ensuring alignment to global & regional strategies and objectives.
•    Supplier Relationship Management: Manage commercial relationships with suppliers, fostering collaboration and ensuring compliance to the corporate social responsibility standards, performance level, ethical practices, and continuous improvement.
•    Efficiency and Continuous Improvement: Drive purchasing efficiency by enhancing contract management practices and securing continuous improvements throughout the contract validity period.
•    Sustainability Initiatives: Drive sustainability improvements during sourcing projects and contract management, focusing on promoting the use of fossil-free fuels, Battery Electric Vehicles, and other sustainable practices within the Volvo Group logistics framework.
•    Data Analysis: Ability to collect and make data correlations using analytical tools. Propose fact-based plans, solutions, process changes, and new improved ways of working based on the insights derived from data analysis.
•    Business Intelligence Management: Share knowledge regarding the evolution of cost drivers, innovations, and trends within the transportation and logistics sector in the region. Communicate insights to relevant stakeholders to support strategic decision-making.
•    Representation: Represent Logistics Purchasing and collaborate with regional teams, securing compliance to global systems and processes.
•    Additional Duties: Carry out other responsibilities as assigned by management, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in the role.

 

Information about Organization and Team:
Logistics Purchasing is a global organization, and despite the Regional Buyer will be located and report locally, he/she will be member of a very collaborative and integrated global group of 60+ people. In North America, the local team is represented by 1 Director, 7 Regional Buyers (6 in Greensboro/USA and 1 in Monterrey/MX), 2 Commodity Buyers (who report directly to Commodity Organization in Sweden) and usually 2 interns. The team culture has been growing year over year, and it’s a very open-minded group who values and welcome new ideas and is very inclusive.
 

Who are you? You are a passionate and organized graduated professional, who is willing to explore new ways of working via intense collaboration internally and with our supply chain partners. You will develop a structured path to support Volvo’s ambitions connected to Digitalization, Sustainability and especially the BEV (Battery Electric Vehicles) deployment in our own transportation needs and flows. Within the previous 2 years, you graduated with a Bachelor's or Master's degree preferably in Logistics, Transportation, Business Administration, Supply Chain or Engineering with a specialization in Transportation, Logistics, Digitalization, or Sustainability.  Maximum two years previous working experience prior to, or after graduation. Understanding of transport and commercial vehicles industries and business analysis As all documentation is in English, proficiency in the English language is required Proficiency in the Spanish or French language would be a plus Must be able to communicate efficiently and effectively within a multi-cultural and international environment Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and work effectively with multiple tasks Strong negotiation skills Must be proficient in MS Office What’s in it for you?
