Job Description

 

W.R. Grace operates a comprehensive manufacturing plant and a technical and analytical services center in the Curtis Bay area of Baltimore.  The company's largest facility at nearly a million square feet, Curtis Bay consists of 10 production plants that manufacture hundreds of products from four product lines:  fluid cracking catalysts, hydroprocessing catalysts, polyolefin catalysts, and silicas.  With approximately 600 employees, Grace is a significant employer in the Curtis Bay area.  More than half of the products manufactured there are exported at a value of approximately $150 million annually. All employees at the Curtis Bay actively participate in environment, health and safety and play an integral role in achieving compliance with our EHS policy including emergency preparedness and response as defined in site-wide and local area documentation.

We are hiring an Area Operations Manager that will lead the manufacturing operations for the Advanced Refining Technologies (ART) unit at our Curtis Bay plant. In this role you will be responsible for the following: 

Responsibilities

 

Assures safe working environment for employees and environmental compliance. Assures regulatory compliance and positive community relations. Develops the annual operating plan/budgets and continuously reviews the plan compliance with respect to production, yields, and fixed costs. Reports and corrects variances from the plan.  Works with the Operations and business leadership team to develop strategy, annual operating plan and other business plans. Member of the Site Leader’s Leadership Team that provides overall direction for the site Manages raw material, production schedules, finished product inventories and logistics of shipments. Defines plant priorities and leads team to execute improvements in operating efficiency or to meet new business needs. Champions Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing initiatives. Leads plant in conformance to ISO and other manufacturing standards. Participates in Sales and Operations Planning processes Other duties as assigned. Physical Requirements and Environment Must be willing to wear PPE (Personal Protective equipment) including but not limited to hard hat, protective eyewear, steel-toed boots, hearing protection, Level A suit, full face respirator Must be able to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb stairs and ladders over 100 ft. Ability to work in a high hazard environment, including adverse weather conditions, elevated spaces, confined spaces, extreme temperatures, and noisy surroundings. Ability to follow safety protocols and standards working in a pilot plant facility with highly hazardous materials Required Qualifications

 

BS Degree in a technical discipline (preferably Chemical Engineering) Minimum of 7 years of experience in chemicals manufacturing.  Minimum of 5 years of plant and/or regional leadership experience. Strong technical and operational background including knowledge of the Hydro Processing processes recognizing the sensitivity of customer requirements. Preferred Qualifications
