Marzetti Company is looking to hire team members who will grow with us on our journey towards world class operational excellence. The position of Operations Manager is responsible for directing, managing and the overall coordination of production-packaging activities and interfacing with employees and other departments on designated shift. Safety – Marzetti Values: Work Safely • Maintains highest standard of Safety for all functions on an ongoing basis and ensures compliance for self and others to OSHA standards. • Performs daily inspection of all PPE required including but not limited to SLIP-RESISTANT/STEEL-TOED SHOES, safety glasses, gloves, shields and aprons to ensure good overall condition of items that provide optimal personal safety & protection while working in the facility. • Successfully acquires and maintains Lock Out-Tag Out Certification for machine and safely performs all functions in accordance to OHSA and company requirements and standards. • Performs daily inspection of power equipment with proper documentation. • As a member of the T. Marzetti Company, completes his/her Behavior Based Safety Observations (BBSO), corrects issues when identified, and participates in problem solving. Marzetti Company, completes his/her Behavior Based Quality observations (BBQs), corrects issues when identified and participates in problem solving. • Ensures compliance to quality, food safety / HACCP, FSMA, Food Defense, 5S, OSHA and other support programs; assures conformity to all company, customer and government standards. • Communicates any concerns related to product safety, integrity, quality and legality to management or to the confidential hotline if the need for anonymity is necessary. Functional Capability - Marzetti Values: Be Perceptive-see work through your customers’ and consumers’ eyes, winning is just the Beginning, Continuous Improvement, Be Accountable – stand behind what you do • Promotes integrity, respect, accountability, continuous improvement and positive interactions with all team members, customers and vendors. • Directs and motivates supervisors on designated shift. • Responsible for meeting established objectives pertaining to plant, production and controls and minimizes the shift’s overtime labor costs, maintenance/repair costs, and equipment downtime. • Conduct monthly the “Equip” audit Works with HR for hiring, training and scheduling of production work force. • Coordinates with other department managers to ensure proper purchasing, processing, packaging, accounting and inventory control activities and procedures. • Responsible for ensuring scheduling of the packaging department on the floor and staff coordination and staff coordination. • Ensures required production reporting is accurate and timely. • Maintains close working relationship with all departments and responds to deviations from standards immediately. • Responsible for & maintains positive employee, corporate and community relations along with appropriate interface with customer service. • Ensures a disciplined and safe work environment. • Reviews budgets for packaging department. • Provides assistance and information to Assistant Plant Manager with strategic needs and plans for packaging department in respect to operations in general for current and future plant goals. • Regular attendance is required in accordance with company attendance policy and procedures. • Performs tasks or responsibilities as assigned by Management. • Complete initial/annual training to ensure the individual is properly qualified (QI) to perform all required job tasks as outlined in training program/records. Qualifications BS/BA degree in business management or related field preferred. 5-7 years operations and leadership experience in a manufacturing environment required, preferably food-related industry. Ability to work flexible hours and support multiple project teams and balance priorities. Working knowledge of manufacturing effective staffing, scheduling, budgets, production processes. Previous Continuous Improvement leadership experience preferred Demonstrated ability to appropriately work with confidential information and situations and manage correspondence. Must be a proven leader and team player, with experience in change management Ability to direct and lead cross functional improvement teams Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem solving skills. Capable of communicating and expressing ideas clearly and concisely, in both written and verbal formats. Analytical/statistical problem solver; thorough understanding of problem solving methodologies. High level of organizational planning, teamwork, analytical reasoning, and adaptability. Strong team builder, mentor, coach, and influential leader; ability to build trust among associates Strong interpersonal, technical and presentation skills. Must be a team player with good internal & external customer service skills. Directly manages department Supervisors – 3-5 employees who each manage a total of 2-60 dept. employees. Supervisory responsibilities include training, scheduling, planning, assigning and directing work; rewarding; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Lift up to 75 pounds repetitively. Stand for up to 12 hours with regular breaks. May be required to work overtime and/or weekends as needed. The employee is regularly exposed to heat, fumes, odors, dust, oil, slippery floors, moving parts/equipment and non-toxic industrial waste and scrap. SLIP-RESISTANT/Steel-toed SHOES, Earplugs, safety glasses, hairnets, beard nets (if facial hair exists) are required to be worn/used in accordance with company GMP and Safety standards. Condition of these items must be inspected by employee daily and be replaced when no longer providing the optimal protection of the Team Member.
