Scope of the job:

To create and continually improve a sustainable world class TMP manufacturing facility that delivers zero accidents; zero defects; zero lead time and zero cost growth.  In short to design and operate a manufacturing facility where we can make things easier, better, faster and cheaper. He/she is responsible for ensuring safety and environmental compliance are met in support of company policy and programs.  

The incumbent of this job operates as part of the PC & STC management team. 

Must interface with all levels within the PC & STC operational environment.

This position will entail training in Japan for a duration of 3-6 months.

This role will play an important part in setting up the new line in Chandler to ready it for production, helping with the transfer of knowledge from Japan and actively participating in the installation and commissioning phase of the project.

Main Responsibilities:

Manage the day-to-day operational activities through Production Managers, Senior Materials Controller, The Planning Manager, Assembly and Machining Support Lead, Business Process Improvement Leads and Manufacturing Engineering to exceed performance in terms of output, service levels, product availability, cost and response to meet the commercial objectives of the business. Manages process improvement, manpower loading, equipment and material needs, and accurate control of all inventory.Manages and develops the team leaders daily to optimize resource utilization, quality and on-time delivery, time reporting, prioritize and coordinate daily work load, dealing with day to day employee issues, and interface with the service team leaders.Oversees operational expense budgets within agreed upon targets.  Evaluates assigned staff skills, develops and deploys employee development programs.Manages human resources, including selection, recommends staffing levels and changes in accordance with company and departmental mission, coaching, discipline, manpower planning and motivation of staff.  Oversees the TMP business to achieve annual business goals for revenue & gross profit in coordination with the regional and Global TMP strategies and provide monthly reports.  Through the same report set and reporting to the General Manager provide strategic Operational direction for the business to best meet business requirementsFully Implement the Vacuum Technique Production System (VTPS B) across all seven zones within the facility.Ensure that the PC operation fully complies all procedures governing safety (Risk Control Elements) and that the SHE program (Visible leadership, reduction of physical risks and reduction of behavioral risks) is followed ensuring the requirements of statutory legislation and ISO 45001:2018 are met.Develop and implement strategies aimed at improvements in manufacturing to achieve cost reduction (CC7 – reduce product cost by 7% every two years), quality improvement and systems development ensuring that the requirements of ISO9001:2018 are met.Strengthen the PC manufacturing organisation demonstrating strong leadership to ensure effective recruitment and selection, objective setting, competency and organisation development.Develop, in conjunction with group purchasing and materials management expertise, the future direction of materials management activities, consistent with zone requirements. Ensuring a strong alignment of the inbound supply chain to the needs of the operation.Manage the materials function to minimise the total cost of purchasing and stock holding whilst maximising customer service levels.Ensure that the PC operation is as efficient as possible regarding the use of natural resources and fully complies with the requirements of ISO 14001:2015.Establish, in agreement with the General Manager, improvement targets, developing and implementing action plans to achieve continuous improvement in all key areas of responsibility.Report monthly on via Sales and Operations Planning meetings the status of the businessMaintain succession Planning for all reports including the Operations Manager role to ensure business continuity

Skills/Knowledge/Experience

Degree level in Engineering or Science discipline is desirable.Higher degree in Technology Management or similar an advantage.Significant experience in multi-disciplined manufacturing environment.Demonstrated history of leadership skills including coaching, mentoring, performance management and recruitment.Proven experience of change management, teamwork, active listening, communication, collaboration and empathy essential. Resource management and development desirable.Strong track record of delivering results in an operational environment.Understanding of basic manufacturing financial concepts (i.e. Efficiency and Overhead Variance, etc.) Strong supply chain skills. MCIPS or equivalent desirable.Experience of working with and implementing Lean principles.Must be a good communicator and have excellent fluency in spoken and written English.
