Operations Manager

Cleaver Brooks is looking for an Operations Manager to join our team in Lincoln, NE. The Operations Manager is responsible for the overall management, direction, and coordination of manufacturing and maintenance operations. Ensures Divisional production objectives are met, at the lowest cost consistent with quality requirements, using a comprehensive integrated (ERP) business system. Strategic role that provides manufacturing vision (short and long term) and achieves objectives by delegating authority to key managers, supervisors and technicians in production, maintenance, and other related operations. Manufacturing volume in $80-100 million range.

Essential functions:

Must possess and apply intellect, judgment, and management skills to achieve required results. Must possess creativity/adaptability to successfully manage plant to effectively address changing business conditions and to achieve objectives. Must provide effective management of subordinates to achieve desired results. Attributes necessary to meet this include communication, motivation, team building, employee involvement, diplomacy, delegating, etc. skills as well as confidence and enthusiasm. Must possess thorough and relevant product and manufacturing processes knowledge. Must possess continuous improvement and lean manufacturing mindset. Position requires the exercise of intellect, judgment, and emotional maturity necessary to successfully manage and lead a plant of this size, complexity and nature. Position requires the constant and consistent exercise of intellect, judgment, and ability commensurate with manager positions in similar industries or situations. Ability to handle responsibilities with effective interpersonal skills and to effectively interface with others inside and outside the Company is required. Determines plant policies consistent with Company or Divisional policies and directs and supervises the application of such policies to manufacturing operations. Coordinates the execution of manufacturing schedules based on sales requirements and plant capacity. Confers with subordinates and other plant personnel on the application of methods and production standards, and adherence to safety programs. Reviews all recommendations for special machinery and works closely with product and process research and development program changes. Applies leadership and interpersonal skills needed to establish credibility with workforce. Controls cost of production through appropriate subordinates. Oversees the maintenance of buildings and equipment and plant security and protection. Participates in long-range plant expansion, conversion and equipment planning. Participates directly in the conduct of industrial and labor relations, including union negotiations where applicable. Performs annual performance reviews and approves recommendations of subordinates in matters of personnel or rate changes. Represents the Company in the community and promotes the Company's goodwill and interest in community activities. May have direct contact with customers on complaints and service matters. Must have ability to travel (up to 10%) Position requires ability to work in a normal office and production plant with welding, machining, and other fabrication environment.

Other Duties:

Internal Contacts: Moderate (6-15%)

Make contacts that sometimes involve controversy where established methods or procedures require interpretation.

External Contacts: Occasional (1-5%)

Make contacts involving little or no controversy following well established practices and procedures.

Basic Requirements:

Education: Bachelor's Degree preferred

Experience:  7 – 10 years as a production supervisor or manager with a durable goods manufacturer. Candidates with experience working in a union environment will be prioritized.

Physical Skill & Effort: 

            Limited manual dexterity required. Work requires infrequent physical effort.

Working Conditions and Hazards:  

Normal plant, shop, field or office conditions. From time to time, slightly disagreeable features. Negligible/little or no exposure.
