The Operations Manager will oversee the operations of the Outbound and Inbound departments. The Operations Manager will provide training of warehouse personnel to maintain OSHA, ISO and internal requirement and assist in the identification and implementation of continuous improvement opportunities and customer satisfaction opportunities for the Distribution area. The Operations Manager will evaluate and manage equipment, systems, and facility to improve efficiencies and workflow as well as develop plans for resource utilization.

 

Job Duties

Develops and implements strategies to attract and maintain a highly skilled and engaged workforce. Develops and leverages internal and external partnerships to maximize the achievement of distribution goals. Develops, recommends, and implements operational enhancements for growing the business and reducing operating costs. Drives continuous improvement. Drives the execution of operational improvement in regards to performance metrics. Manages Operations' workload/capacity on a daily basis. Oversees the development of supervisors. Provides overall direction to shift supervisors and leads daily. Providing service to internal and external customers. Develop and comply with all internal and external safety regulations.

 

Essential Functions

Supports the shift efforts by coordinating warehouse personnel and directing the flow of shipments/goods. Manages hourly direct reports and assigned departmental processes within established operations priorities. Expedites distribution activities to meet scheduled storage and shipping objectives. Consistently administers attendance and payroll policies while supporting other plant policies. Trains hourly and salary associates while maintaining safe working conditions and practices. Drives improvement projects as required. Direct employees with respect to safety policies and procedures, distribution volume, cost, quality, and meeting shipment schedules and delivery dates.  Responsibilities include providing necessary coaching, training and administering discipline. Promote positive employee relations through effective management and issue resolution Maintain adherence to Company policies, safety standards, and good housekeeping practices.  Assure that machinery, equipment, and facilities are properly maintained for efficient production.  Schedule vacations and overtime, as required.  Manage hourly workforce on an 8-hour shift, Monday-Friday, overtime and weekends as needed. Must be able to qualify for and maintain forklift license; valid state issued driver’s license and successful completion of eye exam required. Perform other duties as required or directed. Makes implementation and results a top priority with regularly updates for Distribution and Transportation initiatives. Empowers every employee in the department through positive reinforcement of team oriented continuous improvement. Shares "best practice" methods and ideas. Supplies opportunity solutions to management and peer workers. Requires a hands-on approach driven by results

 

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Management/ Business/ or similar preferred. 2-3 years of supervisory experience in distribution/ logistics/ warehouse environment Team oriented, self-motivated and positive attitude. Ability to contribute and work  within a cross-functional team Good communication both written and verbal. Knowledge with PkMS and SAP as it related to job responsibilities. Experience with all MS Office products and ability to use Excel. Working knowledge of Six-Sigma tools and methodology, strong quantitative, analytical and process redesign skills, along with excellent project management skills are required. Strong facilitation of encouragement, motivation, and inspirational skills. Excellent communication skills to lead and support empowered employees in a team environment.
