Operations Manager

Carlisle Weatherproofing Technologies (CWT) is a leading supplier of building envelope solutions that effectively drive energy efficiency and sustainability in commercial and residential applications.  We are looking for an Operations Manager working out of our Fernley, NV facility.

 

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for providing leadership of the daily production activities for a manufacturing facility with approximately 75 hourly employees and staff. This position reports to the Plant Manager. In this role, you will support a positive safety culture by directing the activities and staff within a 3 shift, manufacturing environment with approximately 75% of your time spent on the floor engaging with the team. The position is accountable for effective production management and will use Lean Manufacturing and other process improvement techniques to continually drive improvements in safety, quality, cost, delivery, and service. 

 

 

Position Responsibilities:

Building an inclusive lean culture of high integrity, teamwork, commitment to excellence, and customer-focused intensity. Lead, direct, and coach employee performance through communication and documentation. Drive employee engagement, training, and development to maximize manufacturing, quality, safety, and productivity goal attainment. Foster a culture of Continuous Improvement; including Lean Manufacturing principles, Six Sigma Problem Solving, and Preventative and Corrective Action. Develop and sustain 5S/Visual Workplace organization, including material flow and inventory management tools. Manage the overall production activities to ensure that objectives in safety, quality, efficiency, volume, and cost are achieved. Highly developed leadership and communication skills. Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and creativity. Assures maintenance, repair, and housekeeping of the building and all production. Willingness and ability to learn all manufacturing processes, company EH&S protocols, and any other aspect of plant functions as deemed necessary for safe and efficient plant operations. Knowledge of manufacturing software programs (preferably JD Edwards). Works collaboratively with the Plant Management. Provide support in implementing/maintaining preventive and predictive maintenance. Manage the buildings and grounds such that good manufacturing practices are adhered to, and a professional appearance is maintained.

 Required experience and knowledge:

Minimum of 7-10 years experience as an Operations Manager or Supervisor, (preferably for an asphalt, paint, or chemical producer). College Degree preferred (preferably in Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering) Lean/Six Sigma Demonstrated success managing people and operations. Excellent written and verbal communication Proven ability to influence cross-functional Experience using JD Edwards (or equivalent ERP system).
