Description
We are offering an exciting opportunity for an Sr. Operations Specialist or Manager to become a key member of our team. Based in Annapolis, Maryland, this role is integral to our freight operations within the industry. As an Operations Coordinator, you will act as a central point of contact for both new and existing clients, providing them with essential information and addressing their queries.
Responsibilities include:
Key Responsibilities:
+ Operational Management: Oversee the daily operations of air or ocean freight services, ensuring timely, cost-effective, and high-quality deliveries. Manage airfreight or oceanfreight transportation, warehouse operations, and related logistics functions.
+ Process Optimization: Continuously evaluate operational workflows, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions that drive efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance service levels..
+ Vendor Management: Manage relationships with carriers, airlines, and third-party logistics providers. Negotiate contracts, monitor performance, and ensure adherence to agreed-upon service levels and KPIs.
+ Compliance & Safety: Ensure adherence to all relevant air freight regulations, customs requirements, and safety standards. Stay up-to-date with industry changes and ensure compliance across operations.
+ Customer Service: Act as the point of escalation for client issues related to air freight operations. Work closely with the customer service team to resolve issues, answer queries, and provide solutions to ensure high customer satisfaction.
+ Budgeting & Financial Oversight: Manage the operational budget, track expenses, and ensure profitability. Implement cost-saving initiatives while maintaining quality and service standards.
+ Performance Reporting: Develop and maintain performance metrics to track key operational performance indicators (KPIs), such as on-time delivery rates, cost per shipment, and customer satisfaction levels. Provide regular reports to senior management.
+ Continuous Improvement: Lead and contribute to process improvement projects, fostering innovation to enhance productivity, reduce operational costs, and improve overall service offerings.
Requirements
• Applicant must possess a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, or a related field.
• Proven experience as a Freight Forwarder is essential either in an air or ocean freight capacity
• Demonstrable knowledge and experience in Freight Forwarding operations is required.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills are necessary for the role.
• Ability to obtain a Security Clearance required
• Proficiency in using computer software and systems related to operations and logistics.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to make decisions under pressure.
• Ability to work well in a team as well as independently.
• Strong organizational skills with an ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Familiarity with industry best practices and regulations.
• Commitment to delivering exceptional customer service.
• Must be detail-oriented and able to maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including occasional weekends or holidays if required.
