Operations Manager

About the Role

 

Within the global production and country strategy and guidelines, the Plant Operations Manager directs, plans, organizes, develops & controls all activities of the Production function (production and production support) to meet short, medium, and long-term production goals, whilst complying with Safety and Quality Assurance, customer requirements, rules, laws, and regulations.

 

Key Responsibilities Include

 

Lead, direct, and control the day-to-day activities of the plant to achieve the short and medium-term operating and financial objectives set by the overall corporate business plan and budget targets Responsible for activities such as production process, health & safety assurance of the production employees, manufacturing, maintenance, engineering projects and inner warehouse process. Ensure in- and outbound materials and finished goods are in line with agreed requirements Set, and monitor the performance of the plant against standards and targets in areas such as manufacturing and administration efficiency, cost control (budget process, controlling, measurement, KPI management), legal compliance, and human resource management Establish operating budgets; monitor the cost and effectiveness of site activities to optimize resources, prioritize spending, and achieve safety, quality, volumes, and manufacturing standards Develop and drive the implementation of a variety of operating policies and procedures (in conjunction with corporate subject matter experts) to ensure that the plant meets its current and future production targets and quality standards Allocate labor and capital resources to maximize productivity. Research, evaluate, and recommend investments in technology, capital, equipment, systems, or other assets that will enhance the plant’s production capabilities. Lead, direct, evaluated, and developed a team of functional and operational managers or other professionals with close interaction with the functional leads when appropriate (for example in production, maintenance, quality, human resources, and finance) to ensure that the plant meets all its established targets and standards Lead and build the site team and coordinate the development of capabilities. Set short and medium term strategy for the plant in line with OSCO strategy including Safety, Quality and Continuous Improvement

 

About You

 

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Food Science, or similar 10+ years of experience in a production environment including food manufacturing methods, process improvement programs and procedures Knowledgeable in MS Office Suite and SAP Strong technical background with business and people management skills Experience in Project Management and Leadership Continuous Improvement - advanced (including CAPEX) English – Intermediate Dedication to BC Values Creative and innovative leader with excellent communication and information-sharing skills upholding the values of collaboration and delivering to the customer A tenacious character who challenges the ‘status quo’ and can manage upwards as well as downwards, the Operations manager should continuously strive for improvements in ways of working, processes and approaches to service strategies, best manufacturing practices, spare parts inventory profiling delivering a more effective operations model A decision maker with an analytical, strategic, project management mindset possessing a positive, engaging charismatic, driven personality and robust character Have the ability to accept responsibility, ensure quality, and truly understand the importance of being a leader Ability to respond resourcefully and constructively to new demands, priorities, and challenges Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously Ability to be a self-starter and work autonomously, as well as be part of a successful Team Passionate about providing excellent service Excellent verbal and written communication skills Innovative and able to challenge existing processes
