The Stryten factory in Salina, Kansas is one of the largest lead-acid battery manufacturing sites in North America with 800 employees capable of producing more than 35,000 quality batteries per day. These batteries can be found in your car, in your boat or RV, or, in your lawn and garden equipment. Stryten proudly supports the local community by regularly participating in Project Salina, the Salvation Army Angel Tree program, and providing more than 100 volunteers for the Smoky Hill River Festival.

 

The Operations Manager will direct, coordinate, and evaluate plant operations to deliver finished products on time, of high quality, at targeted quantity, within established cost objectives, while maintaining established levels for both work in process and finished inventories.

Responsibilities Exercise direct control of production, quality, volume, cost, schedule and inventory target compliance.Assure production levels are attained by anticipating needs, establishing goals, and determining priorities.Determine direct and indirect manning requirements to maximize throughput with minimum manning.Anticipate equipment/tooling needs, make recommendations, and develop alternatives to avoid production down time.Meet budget limitations for total unit cost.Direct and lead the plant Continuous Improvement team. Encourage and submit cost savings measures.Actively promote safety and health programs by setting an example, developing processes, insisting on clean and orderly work areas, and maintaining low blood leads and good work habits.Meet or exceed product quality specifications as evidenced by QCPC and turn-back rations within established guidelines.Recognize potential in subordinates and take affirmative action to develop and promote employees, while establishing inclusion and accountability.Promote cooperation between shifts, assure excellent communication avenues, and provide recognition.Promptly review disciplinary problems and recommend action.Comply with current Quality Systems requirements.Follow Excel Lean Manufacturing procedures.Perform other duties as assigned by management. Qualifications Bachelor of Science in Business, Management, Technical preferredExcellent communication skills to interact with employees, supervisors, engineers, visitors, and corporate officials.5+ years of Sr. Management experience in a manufacturing environment.Computer knowledge and skills; MS Office, Google.

Able to see, hear and speak; able to sit, stand for at least two hours at a time, sit, bend, craw, squat, kneel and climb able to use both arms and hands to use a computer and peripherals and lift 40 pounds from floor level, able to work below ground level in confined spaces and on stationary or mobile elevated platforms, able to wear respirator and other PPE as required, able to climb stairs. Able to work extended shifts and weekends as needed.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Able to work inside or outside the plant environment and in all climate conditions. Exposed to lead, fumes, chemicals, operating equipment, and vehicles.
