Operations Manager

The Operations Manager will be responsible for the overall production activities of the plant with emphasis on safe operation, attentiveness to quality, on-time delivery, and operational efficiency. The Operations Manager will regularly review performance in these areas, develop plans to improve, and execute upon the plans. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES: + Lead and manage the Operations team including Production Supervisors. Ensure team member direction and goals are specific, relevant, and aligned with goals, vision, mission, and values of the plant and company. + Drive environmental, health, and safety ownership throughout the plant from the Production Supervisor to the front-line employee. Ensure critical EHS initiatives are completed, and that policies and procedures are followed. Lead EHS incident reviews with the assistance of the Environmental, Health, and Safety Manager and drive resulting action items to timely completion. + Ensure accountability for quality production and that it is clearly defined and consistent through the use and development of training and standard operating procedures. + Execution of the production plan as defined by Planning Team ensuring timely delivery of product. + Regular data-based analysis of production capacity levels, cycle times, material flow, and manpower levels. Assist Planning and Process Engineering teams in ensuring production master data for the plant is accurate and up-to-date in the enterprise resource planning system. + Maintain a plant calendar to identify and plan for production adjustments needed resulting in planned maintenance, holidays, and vacations. + Coordination of the operations staff from shift-to-shift to ensure plant duties are completed. + Monitor and drive appropriate training and qualification processes amongst production personnel to provide adequate contingency plans and manufacturing flexibility accounting for varying product mixes. + Work with the Plant Manager to identify and justify capital expenditures and improvement projects that will drive improved production efficiency in the areas of EHS, quality, and productivity. + Ensure that all plant policies are implemented and followed + Communicate production performance to the Plant Manager. + Work with the Plant Manager in the hiring of plant operations staff. + Create a collaborative environment utilizing input from all team members to produce positive results. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Directly manage Production Supervisors. Carry out supervisory and management responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, recommend hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; disciplining employees; addressing complaints; and resolving problems. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Previous experience with SAP a plus. Required to wear all PPE necessary. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Requires a Bachelor’s degree in a technical science with 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment and 3+ years of supervisory experience. Six Sigma knowledge with a Green Belt certification is desirable. Experience with SAP is preferred. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing. Presentation skills a plus. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to work with general accounting principles and other fundamental mathematical concepts normally encountered in the day-to-day activities of this job. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to provide and interpret numerical information in various forms, using spreadsheet or other means of presentation. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to define problems collect data, establish facts, and draw valid, logical conclusions. Ability to interpret a variety of technical and business information related to the requirements of this job. OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES Requires the ability to operate various office equipment including a computer, copy machine, and telephone along with equipment relative to performing job duties. Pay Range: $108,900.00 - $173,900.00 Actual base salary offered varies based on factors, including but not limited to, relevant skill, prior experience, education, base salary of internal peers, demonstrated performance, and geographic location.
