The Opportunity
As an Operations Manager, you will guarantee and drive the collective performance of the activity to achieve meaningful performance goals in safety, machine availability, quality, delivery and cost established with the Plant Management Team. You will manage and mentor a professional staff that supports up to 250 union and non-union professionals as well as have responsibility for meeting safety, quality and delivery targets within the activity.
As an introduction to Michelin and our synthetic rubber processes, this Leader will begin their career as the Site Engineering Methods and Process Improvement Team (PIT) Manager, responsible for current and future capital expenditures that will set the strategic path of the site moving forward. After successful integration in this role, we anticipate you being rapidly moved into a senior operational leadership role at the Site.
Furthermore, the position will be part of a development program with a goal of positioning the new leader to rapidly gain experience and grow quickly within the Michelin worldwide organization.

What You Will Do:
Immediately:
• Manage the project office for the site as well as serve on the Site Leadership Team in that capacity
• Responsible for developing and executing the investment portfolio on an annual basis as well as the 5–10-year strategic forecast
• Achieve buy in from key stakeholders in support of capital projects for the Site
• Implement the Michelin project approach to achieve results within the planned timeline.
• Maintain connections with Central Engineering and the Elastomeric network to ensure standard processes are considered and implemented
• Effectively employ organizational change
• Be a developer of people, always seeking opportunities to develop and grow your Team as well as influence those around you.
In the near future:
• Lead a supporting staff and team of up to 250 direct and indirect reports in a manufacturing facility in a 24 hour/day, 7 day/week operation
• Monitor and lead daily performance and set mid/long term direction in line with company objectives (budget controls, long term planning, etc)
• Demonstrate the ability to be an inspiring, trusted leader who gets results through the empowerment of their team
• Establish and lead the cost control budget of the Team
• Mentor team and promote employee development and work responsibilities
• Demonstrate passion for continuous improvement in safety, production, compliance, maintenance, housekeeping, employee development/mentorship
• Provide site wide communication on company, plant, and department business plan objectives and performance
What You Will Bring:
• Demonstrated leadership presence, maturity and natural curiosity
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and influence others positively and have difficult conversations when needed.
• A BS degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering is or equivalent is required. MBA preferred.
• Have at least 4 to 8 years of management responsibility in a complex petro chemical manufacturing environment. Experience with leading technical teams as well and project management experience is a plus.
• The commitment to learn, with a humble approach to self development.
• Outstanding judgment and ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced, dynamic setting.
• Analytical problem-solving skills with an impeccable attention to detail
• The ability to lead change and influence the Team to embrace change when necessary
• Be geographically mobile to Louisville, Kentucky for the first 2 assignments. Future geographic mobility is a plus but not required.
