Operations Manager - Mining
Reporting to the General Manager of US Heavy Civil & Mining, the Operations Manager orchestrates the strategic oversight and enhancement of mining operations.

This senior role is pivotal in ensuring operational excellence, managing extensive resources, and adhering to regulatory and safety standards. The Operations Manager is instrumental in ensuring that mining activities are executed efficiently, within budget, and on schedule, maintaining optimal safety.

Essential Responsibilities

Leads the strategic planning and execution of comprehensive mining projects to ensure operational excellence. Controls project timelines and resources efficiently, coordinating between multiple teams and departments to optimize workflows and meet strategic objectives. Provides high-level direction in the development of mining protocols and innovations in mine safety and executionActively leads the adoption and enforcement of stringent safety and environmental protocols, ensuring all operations comply with MSHA and local regulations. Develops and oversees safety training programs, conducts regular safety audits, and fosters a culture of continuous improvement in health and safety practices. Engages with regulatory bodies to stay updated on new regulations and implements necessary changes swiftly and effectivelyOversees the financial management of mining projects, including budgeting, forecasting, and expense control, to ensure financial targets are met. Analyzes financial reports and market trends to make strategic decisions that enhance profitability and resource utilization. Works closely with procurement to negotiate contracts with suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring cost-effectiveness and quality in service deliveryManages relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, clients, subcontractors, and community leaders, to strengthen partnerships and ensure compliance with contractual obligations. Leads communication efforts to keep all parties informed of project status, changes, and outcomes. Advocates for the organization in public forums and industry conferences to enhance its profile and secure new business opportunitiesMay perform other duties as required

Requirements

Completion of a Bachelor's Degree in Construction, Engineering, or a related discipline10+ years of experience in mine operations and engineering. preferably on the contractor sideExtensive experience managing various sized mining projectsProven track record in strategic planning and execution of complex operationsDemonstrated leadership in managing multidisciplinary teams over extended geographic distance and complex stakeholder relationshipsSolid experience in financial management, including budgeting and cost controlIn-depth knowledge of safety regulations, equipment assets, and environmental protocols relevant to mining operations

Work Conditions

Extensive travel to work sites is required (50-75% travel)
