Operations Manager (Salt Palace Convention Center)

ASM Global, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities, has an excellent and immediate opening for an Operations Manager for ASM Global/Salt Palace Convention Center. Under the guidance of the Assistant Director of Operations, the Operations Manager has a key leadership role in overseeing all facets of day-to-day operations, event setup, and housekeeping, as well as overseeing administrative tasks for the support and operational needs of the Operations department. This consists of scheduling, payroll, onboarding and offboarding, succession planning, training, and oversight of disciplinary measures for the team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
+ Leads daily facility operations planning meetings with Operations management and supervisors and conducts regular staff meetings.
+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize facility operations and enhance service delivery.
+ Partners with the HR Recruiter to oversee all interviewing, hiring, training, scheduling, and performance management of Operations staff.
+ Conducts performance reviews of Operations staff and provides ongoing coaching and support.
+ Oversees requisitioning of supplies, maintains equipment and supplies inventory controls.
+ Ensure facility and events are in “show ready condition” through training and oversight of shift Supervisors.
+ Assigns and oversees work orders and ensures staff complete work orders in a timely manner for event set ups and changeovers.
+ Partners with HR to deliver progressive disciplinary actions, including counseling, documentation of incidents, up to dismissal of employees.
+ Takes inventory and analyzes and makes recommendations for capital expenditure and/or improvements to the facility.
+ Purchase and maintain an inventory of supplies for the department.
+ Develops and monitors equipment preventative and corrective maintenance programs in collaboration with the Director of Operations.
+ Performs direct repair work as required to maintain operational readiness.
+ Conducts regular reviews of Operations staff members.
+ Sets performance goals and objectives, ensuring all work meets established standards of excellence.
+ Ensures all work is completed on time and meets established standards of quality.
+ Identifies opportunities for process improvements and implements best practices to enhance operational efficiency.
+ Performs all other duties or special projects that are requested or needed.
Experience & Knowledge
+ At least three (3) years of labor management experience preferred.
+ Mechanical experience and capability preferred.
+ Ability to read blueprints, sketch diagrams, and CAD drawings preferred.
+ Basic computer skills and efficiency in Microsoft Office required.
+ Experience in Workday and ABI preferred.
+ Good leadership and communication skills required
+ Strong problem-solving, planning, organizational, and logistical skills.
+ Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written).
+ Ability to build effective relationships with diverse stakeholders and work collaboratively.
+ Comfortable with exposure to adverse weather conditions, cleaning chemicals, and flexible/irregular hours (including evenings, weekends, and holidays) to ensure comprehensive department coverage and goal achievement.
+ Physical ability to lift up to 75 pounds, perform bending, stooping, climbing, and operate industrial equipment.
Job Type: Full-time, 40 hours per week, In-Office
Salary: $63,000-$67,000 annual salary
Schedule: Monday-Friday, Weekend Availability Required, as needed based on event scheduling and job requirements
