Job descriptionThe Operations Manager would report directly to the plant manager. Coordinates activities concerned with production of company products. Responsible for helping coordinate the scheduling, fabrication and shipment of all orders within the fabrication facility working in conjunction with safety, quality, purchasing, transportation, and production control. Ensure that the facility’s safety, quality, production and cost objectives are met by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervision.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES
Assure the safety of all employees and insure that safe working conditions exist in all areas while implementing continuous improvement plans to eliminate all work related incidentsConfer with management personnel to establish production and quality control standards, policies and proceduresAssure all standards are met and ensure compliance with all engineering specifications and certification agenciesPlans and directs production activities and establishes production priorities for products in keeping with effective operations, customer service and cost factorsControl inventory, scrap and material utilizationCoordinates production activities with procurement, maintenance and quality control activities to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, machines and equipmentReviews and analyzes production, quality control, maintenance, and operational reports to determine causes of non-conformity with product specifications, operating and/or production problems using six-sigma, root cause analysis and similar toolsAble to work through the D.M.A.I.C. processDevelops and implements operating methods and procedures designed to eliminate operating problems and improve product qualityWork with production control supervisor to revise production schedules and priorities as a result of equipment failure or operating systemsConsults with maintenance personnel relative to modifications of machines and equipment in order to improve production and quality of productsAssist and mentor the development of those employees identified as possible candidates for future advancement through the use of training programs, educational opportunities and mentoring to better qualify them for current and future positions within the companyConfer with management to uphold company policies, maintain superior employee relations and attain companywide goalsCompile, store and retrieve production dataOversee plant to ensure a clean and orderly conditionPerform and direct special projects as assigned QualificationsQUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS
