Job Description
We are seeking an Operations Planner for our Baltimore/Curtis Bay, MD Plant, working a 9/80 schedule. Reporting directly to the Operations Manager for FCC Operations, this role is responsible for developing and integrating production schedules from daily to long-term, coordinating with various departments to ensure efficient operations, and maintaining inventory and regulatory compliance. Additionally, the Operations Planner will support safety initiatives, assist with troubleshooting, and conduct training activities.
The Curtis Bay plant, located in Baltimore, Maryland, is W. R. Grace’s largest manufacturing site. Operational since the early 1900s, this facility spans approximately 260 acres and employs around 700 people. The plant produces a variety of chemical products, including fluid catalytic cracking (FCC) catalysts, hydroprocessing catalysts, polyolefin catalysts, and silicas. These products are essential in industries such as fuel, plastics, food, beverages, biofuels, coatings, and pharmaceuticals.
ResponsibilitiesDevelop and integrate daily and weekly production schedules. Coordinate with maintenance, engineering, and supervisors to finalize work plans. Communicate daily work plans and priorities for the next 3 shifts. Manage plant grade changes, shutdowns, and startups. Update work instructions and zero energy permit forms. Enter maintenance notifications and assist with month-end inventory reconciliation. Order production supplies and raw materials. Ensure regulatory compliance and a safe workplace. Support zero energy and other safety initiatives. Back up the production engineer for quality monitoring. Conduct training activities and assist with troubleshooting plant processes and equipment. Physical Requirements and Environment Must be willing to wear PPE (Personal Protective equipment) including but not limited to hard hat, protective eyewear, steel-toed boots, hearing protection, Level A suit, full face respirator Must be able to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb stairs and ladders over 100 ft. Ability to work in a high hazard environment, including adverse weather conditions, elevated spaces, confined spaces, extreme temperatures, and noisy surroundings. Required Qualifications
B.S. in Chemical Engineering or (5-7+ years) industrial manufacturing experience with HS Diploma/GED. Ability to lead change initiatives and implement improvements. Excellent organizational and communications skills. Strong organizational skills. Ability to resolve personnel, safety, contractual and carrier issues both independently and with appropriate resources efficiently and effectively. Preferred Qualifications
SAP experience and purchasing of raw materials. Proficient in Microsoft Office software (WORD and EXCEL). Must be able to maintain focus on Safety and Environmental in all activities and wear requisite PPE.
