Operations Program Leader
**Job Description Summary** This position leads and provides operational and technical expertise toward the development and implementation of cost improvement projects and lean initiatives for the site and business. This position also provides operations support for launch of new and sustaining engineering projects for the divisions and assists with product or process transfers associated with sterilization. The position requires an understanding of the current medical device markets and customer requirements along with the ability to interact with cross functional partners divisionally, as well as at the plant level. The position requires an understanding of the current medical device markets and customer requirements along with the ability to interact with multi-functional partners divisionally, as well as at the plant level. Must have solid understanding of lean principles and the ability to manage and complete projects with multi-functional teams. **Key Responsibilities** + Systematically manage numerous projects from ideation through completion. + Lead multi-functional teams and influence others to achieve common goals. + Support or lead sterilization onload projects from contract sterilizers or other sites. + Support or lead contract sterilizer project validation efforts to support new and sustaining projects. + Assist in reviewing product adoptions from an operations and DFM perspective. + Assist in lean projects, kaizen, and other continuous improvement activities. + Brainstorm solutions to current problems, provide value-stream mapping, and work to eliminate waste in processes. + Brainstorm and identify ongoing pipeline of continuous improvement projects for the site and for BD. + Act as liaison between project teams, BUs, and manufacturing sites for project roll-outs. + Act as change agent to drive continuous improvement approach. + Analyze existing products and processes, recommend improvements, and oversee implementation. + Support business integrators and other leaders on cost leadership GP improvement programs. + Perform gap analyses between procedures and process and develop action plans to drive alignment and improvement. + Champion BD Excellence through leading or participating on a component team. **Additional Information** + This is a full-time, in-office position 5 days/week. A flexible work schedule for some hybrid days may be coordinated with the manager. + Occasional travel between BD sites will be required with more frequent local travel between Covington and Madison GA. + Must follow applicable safety and quality regulations as identified by the organization. **Requirements** **Educational and Experience:** + Bachelor’s degree required and science, engineering, business administration, industrial technology, or manufacturing field preferred + 3 to 5 years’ quality, operations, operations support, supply chain, or distribution experience in a manufacturing environment, + Experience in a medical device or other highly regulated field with focus on operational excellence preferred + Proven success as a program/project manager with leading projects in the medical device industry desirable + 1 to 3 years’ supervisory or people leadership experience desired + 1 to 3 years’ leading Kaizen events desired + Experience working with ERP systems such as JDE and SAP and Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) + Proven success with deploying and sustaining a production system and/or significant change management efforts + Experience working within QMS and performing validation desired + Certification in Project Management, Lean Six Sigma preferred **Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:** + Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology + Ability to translate business to technical information requirements and facilitate communications with / between diverse audiences + Ability to turn conceptual leadership ideas into well thought out business models and/or proposals + Strong and effective influencing and problem-solving skills + Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills + Demonstrated people leadership skills + Ability to lead multi-functional and diverse teams + Ability to take initiative and self-direct work with minimal guidance + Strong verbal, written, facilitation, and presentation skills + Super user of SAP, JDE + Excellent knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Power Point, MS Project, CAD, Visio, PowerBI + Lean Master, Certified Black or Green Belt desired At BD, we prioritize on-site collaboration because we believe it fosters creativity, innovation, and effective problem-solving, which are essential in the fast-paced healthcare industry.
