The Joint, Office of the Secretary of Defense, Interagency Division provides expert support services to a range of customers spanning across the Department of Defense, Federal Civilian, and international markets. JOID provides a diverse portfolio of analytical and programmatic capabilities to help our customers make informed decisions on their most challenging issues.

 

JOID assists the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) in developing leading edge technologies to counter WMD in support of CCMDs and transitioning these technologies to military services and COCOMs. SPA provides expertise across the full range of chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and high-yield explosives (CBRNE) WMD, Counter Improvised Threat and Countering Threat Network technologies to support understanding, detection, identification, characterization, denial, control, disabling, defeating, disposing, safeguarding the force, managing consequences, and test and evaluation in support of military and civilian operations.

 

We have an immediate need for an Operations Research Analyst to provide onsite support out of Lorton, VA.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will serve as a subject matter expert (SME) on projects by providing research and development (R&D) analysis to the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) Research and Development (RD) Chemical Biological (CB) Department with emphasis on support to the CB Warfighter Experimentation Branch by: acting as an integrator and advisor between Science and Technology Managers, DoD scientists and engineers, and Warfighters; informing design of, operational coordination of, and advisement of Warfighter experimentation events; facilitating analysis of early technologies for operational considerations (form, fit, function, CONOPS/CONEMPS, etc); and attending relevant enterprise and technical meetings, reviews, conferences, and the like in order to stay informed of current and ongoing work and maintain an informed perspective of developments across the organization and enterprise. Support collaboration with other Chemical Biological Divisions to guide and inform the identification and validation of technologies to ensure they are relevant to the Warfighter and the enterprise, account for and not duplicative of (to the best of their knowledge) other ongoing work within and external to the enterprise, and within the scope of the organization and enterprise mission.

Qualifications

Required:

Bachelor’s degree in biological science, chemistry, engineering, or other related field with 3-5 years of related experience.Prior military service with operational experience within an S/G 3/5/7 shop.Ability to break down complex unstructured problems, lay out objective approaches, and develop solutions.Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate complex technical subjects to technical and non-technical stakeholders.Experience using Microsoft Office suite of tools and programsActive Secret clearance with eligibility for Top Secret clearance
