As an airline, safety is our most important principle. And our Corporate Safety team is responsible for making sure safety is top of mind in every action we take. From conducting flight safety investigations and educating pilots on potential safety threats to implementing medical programs and helping prevent employee injuries, our team is instrumental in running a safe and successful airline for our customers and employees.
Key Responsibilities:The Operations Safety Programs Manager – Safety Excellence, will be responsible for the strategic management and improvement of United’s Safety Excellence program, a three-tiered recognition program inspired by OSHA’s Voluntary Protection Program (VPP), sought at cultivating a strong safety culture. Your duties include performing comprehensive on-site Safety Excellence evaluations at United locations to ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, United’s safety standards, and the unique criteria of the Safety Excellence Site Assessment. Collaborating with operational leaders and the safety team, you will devise and implement corrective actions within reasonable timeframes, ensuring their effective execution.
This role requires a proven understanding of OSHA regulations. You will lead and support our operational groups to grow and maintain an effective Safety Excellence Program. You will be instrumental in fostering a culture of safety through your ability to communicate effectively and build positive, collaborative relationships at all organizational levels.
Additionally, this individual will oversee the maintenance and yearly revision of the documentation for United’s Safety Excellence program, including our internal safety policies and procedures. By analyzing safety excellence data and identifying trends, you will provide valuable insights to leaders and business partners. Your support will be crucial to divisional leaders and stations as they seek to meet the standards of OSHA’s Voluntary Protection Program and prepare for on-site assessments. This is a Chicago-based, hybrid position that will require 2-3 days in office per week, plus significant travel.
