Job Brief:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Loss Mitigation Underwriting and Fulfillment manager to oversee Underwriting and fulfillment operations for Real Estate mortgage and Home Equity portfolios. This role is critical to ensuring effective execution of Loss Mitigation strategies, providing exceptional client service, and maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership skills, deep knowledge of Loss mitigation processes an, and expertise in using technology platforms like LoanSphere Loss Mitigation, MSP Director and others to drive operational efficiency and compliance.
This position provides leadership for the Loss Mitigation Underwriting and Fulfilment team within Default Management. Areas of focus include management of multiple operational activities, business planning, strategy execution, staff management and strong line of business interaction. Team responsibilities include review and execution of Loss Mitigation options (Loan modification, Short Sale, Deed In lieu, etc.) on Real Estate secured products as well as fulfillment of approved solutions. This role requires in depth knowledge of Loss Mitigation operations and all associated investor and regulatory guidelines. Risk to the organization is very high. Position affects Key’s internal and external financial reporting, the corporate client experience with respect to loans, regulatory compliance, and risk mitigation.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Lead and manage a team of underwriters and fulfillment specialists, fostering a high performing, collaborative, and client focused culture.Develop and implement team goals and KPIs to align with organizational objectives.Partner with appropriate business lines to optimize and/or establish sustainable Loss Mitigation programs that effectively mitigate bank risk and resolve delinquency.Maintains advanced knowledge of internal policies, applicable federal and state laws and regulations concerning real estate and consumer lending. Ensure underwriting decisions comply with investor guidelines, regulatory requirements (e.g., CFPB, FHA, VA, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac) and bank policies.Build and maintain constructive relationships with internal and external business partners, suppliers, vendors and regulatory officials.Manage the on-going operations of the department workflow and control environment for functions that include but are not limited to, receipt and review of loss mitigation applications.Develop regular updates, reports, presentations to senior management as needed to ensure awareness and high performance.Planning, evaluation and continuous improvement of all aspects of the Loss Mitigation functions and processes including the development and implementation of Loss Mitigation strategies to mitigate exposure.Accountable for establishing and achievement of all productivity/objectives, quality, remediation, and internal/external Service Level goals by team members.Responsible for monitoring and tracking of loss mitigation activities ensuring root cause analysis and appropriate internal feedback is occurring.Coach and develop high performing team to recognize and take advantage of opportunities to enhance operational efficiency, reduce expenses and/or minimize turnover.Lead the development of new processes, review loss mitigation standards, policies and procedures to minimize KeyBank’s risk exposure and ensure success of the Loss Mitigation department.View all activities performed within the team with a clear understanding of possible risk. Actively seek ways to mitigate that risk by putting proper and sustainable controls in place.Implement new policies and procedures, ensuring that timely and appropriate training has occurred.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent,
Minimum of four(4) years’ experience in Loss Mitigation or underwriting.
Established experience leading in operations; demonstrated ability to manage SLA, quality, and productivity, to deliver superior client service
Proven ability to successfully manage multiple, complex assignments with competing deadlines; proven ability to prioritize commitments, assign tasks, and follow up on assignments.
Proven ability to lead projects and initiatives to successful completion; excellent organization skills including the proven ability to plan, schedule, coordinate, and implement initiatives.
Demonstrated ability to recruit, manage and motivate staff.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent critical thinking and analytical skills with the ability to identify problems and recommend solutions.
Effective negotiation and problem-solving techniques

Preferred
Leadership experience in default management, Loss Mitigation operations, or equivalent field.
3+ Years understanding mortgage servicing regulations and regulators (OCC, FRB,CFPB,GSE, HUD)
Key has implemented a role-based Mobile by Design approach to our employee workspaces, dedicating space to those whose roles require specific workspaces, while providing flexible options for roles which are less dependent on assigned workspaces and can be performed effectively in a mobile environment. As a result, this role may be mobile or home based, which means you may work either at a home office or in a Key facility to perform your job duties. Selected candidate will work typically at least 2 days a week (Wednesdays and one other day) in office at the KeyBank office location.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
This position is eligible to earn a base salary in the range of $71,000.00 to $110,000.00 annually depending on location and job-related factors such as level of experience. Compensation for this role also includes eligibility for short-term incentive compensation and deferred incentive compensation subject to individual and company performance.
