Job Description

Reporting directly to the Operations Finance Manager, the Operations Site Accountant is responsible for the day to day financial activities operating plant location. 

The Site Accountant is the business partner with the site manager and is responsible for the day to day finance activities, maintaining the quality of the administrative processes, auditing and holding the operations accountable for maintaining adherence to financial policies and procedures. Additionally, the Site Accountant applies principles of cost accounting to conduct studies which provide support to the operations team.

KEY FOCUS AREAS:

Assisting the site manager in maintaining a quality and accurate reporting of the month to date and monthly forecasted revenues and expenses.Aid the site management team in the day to day decision making of the business based upon current customer and operational trends.Assists operations with the financial aspects of operational/commercial strategic projects.  Share business knowledge to help provide solutions to business related cost issues. Challenge operations and subcontractors on the scope of projects/expenses.Evaluate and provide recommendations to employee shift schedules. Assist in managing site overtime based upon production requirements and project needs.Facilitate compliance with site level financial control environment and holding the operations team accountable to established financial policies and procedures. Processes include but are not limited to: Requisitioning, purchase order receiving, GRNI, invoices on hold, maintenance work orders, and revenue processes.Manage the quality of the site spare parts inventory.Close and effective communication with the financial team leadership to ensure current and future business trends are reported.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

      Business Partner

Assist the operations in defining key performance indicators per business unit financial activities and assists in developing and attaining operational targets.  Follow up and reporting of the implementation of KPIs, analyzing trends and variance against target.Assists the sales and operations group in the development of cost estimates of new products or services.Analyzes cost information for use in controlling expenditures. Communicates potential cost issues with operations management.Provides management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting prices and profitability of products or services.Assist site management / operations with reviewing monthly financial statements.Learn the processes of the site administrative assistants and cross train in order to be able to assist in resolution of issues and to serve as a backup.

Financial Planning & Analysis

Compiles cost information to be used in the operating budget preparation.  In conjunction with the Operations Finance Manager, works directly with the commercial, operations, and asset management group to develop the annual plan and quarterly forecast. Update Hyperion Planning with the latest forecast/plan information.Provide daily, weekly, financial projections.Analyzes actual costs and production and prepares periodic reporting to the forecast. Provide ad hoc financial analysis as requested by operations and finance management.Provide regular updates on the projection of capital expenditures.

     Month End Reporting:

Participates in Month-End Closing procedures by ensuring accurate accounting of all revenue and cost in the month, reviewing site financials to detect any discrepancies and anomalies, and prepares detailed comments of the month results in Sales and Costs comparing actual numbers with Plan & latest Forecast financials by business unit activity.Analyze compliance reports and identify areas of improvement.Identify process or cost issues and assist operations in the development of a remediation plan.

     Financial Controls:

Support the integrity of the financial results through rigorous review of the site P&L.Ensure appropriate financial control processes are in place across the sites.

Qualifications

Qualifications / Experience

Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university in accounting or financeFinancial Analysis / Cost AccountingFinancial Controls knowledge and experience

Technical Skills

Advanced Excel SkillsExperience of Large company ERP systems (e.g. Oracle, SAP, etc.)
