As the Legal Operations Specialist…

 

What You’ll Do:

Provide analytical, technical, and certain administrative support to James Hardie’s Legal and Compliance Department, including providing support to global functions, developing, implementing and administering legal information management systems, participating in the development and implementation of legal and policies and procedures, and managing and working with internal and external business partners on legal, insurance, corporate governance and compliance and related matters.This role will also manage relationships with legal and insurance counsel and vendors.

 

Legal Operations (50%):

At the direction of the Legal Operations leader, assist in defining and driving strategic and operational initiatives with on-time and on-budget results; Assist in identifying and implementing new, and optimizing current, legal tools to streamline new or existing practices; Managing design, rollout, and training for new systems and processes;. Help enforce processes and policies to manage outside counsel usage and spend, department workflow and metrics and overall operations management requirements; Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enable and support the business and ensure compliance while maintaining focus on overall strategy. Assist in management of the legal and compliance systems to maintain data integrity and support stakeholders; Provide and analyze data to support JH legal and compliance, accounting, and operations; Assist in systems administration of all global legal systems.

Project Management (25%):

Assist in planning, execution and closing of legal initiatives, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget and utilizing Hardie Operating System standards; Facilitate communication between project team members and stakeholders to ensure clear understanding of project objectives, KPIs and progress; Coordinate allocation of resources, including personnel and technology, to ensure project performance and outcomes.

Legal Systems and Processes Training Coordination (25%):

Assist in training new and existing Legal and Compliance Department employees in global legal systems; Develop and implement, or engage with external consultants for, content creation and skill development in legal and compliance department processes and systems for all stakeholders; Develop, maintain and distribute reference and training materials.

 

What You’ll Bring:

Bachelor’s degree, preferably in business or related discipline or equivalent experience required Minimum of 10 years of experience in in a law firm or corporate legal department Expertise in knowledge management, e-billing, and document management systems Knowledge of corporate governance and compliance functions and processes, as well as experience in e-billing processes and vendor management helpful Ability to develop, improve, document and provide high quality deliverables Strong skills in Microsoft Office, especially Excel with ability to learn other systems Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proven track record Ability to be detailed while having a strong understanding of the bigger picture Excellent project management, organizing and planning skills, with a proven track record in implementing improvement projects Understands the team concept, has a strong desire to be a contributing teammate and ability to operate cross-functionally An energetic, hands-on individual with a strong bias for action, someone who commits self fully to stretch goals, is receptive to ongoing coaching & development and is dedicated to delivering outstanding results Ability to embrace step-change in a fast-paced team-oriented work environment Ability to travel an average of <5% Hybrid work environment with office presence of minimum 3 days/week
