Overview:

The Supplier Diversity Office (SDO) is an agency within the Executive Office for Administration and Finance of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts with a mission of serving diverse and small businesses and agencies of the Commonwealth.The mission of the SDO is to serve minorities, women, veterans, service-disabled veterans, disabled, LGBT-owned, and small businesses in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, including the responsibility to certify eligible businesses. TheSDOis seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented intern to support the operations of our agency. This internship provides the opportunity to assist with improving internal processes, focusing on enhancing agency procedures and increasing the efficiency of operational tasks.

Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are general and not all inclusive):

Internal Communications Support:Assist in the creation and maintenance of internal communications from the operations unit, ensuring that all internal staff are informed about agency project updates, upcoming deadlines or events, employee recognition, training and development opportunities, process improvements or new tools.Work closely with other units within SDO to gather updates, key messages, and information for distribution.Onboarding and Offboarding Procedures:Assist in reviewing and improving the agency’s onboarding and offboarding processes.Develop and manage checklists for tasks related to new hires and departing employees.Streamline and document processes to ensure smooth transitions for new staff, interns, and temporary employees.Process Improvement and Efficiency Analysis:Analyze current internal processes and identify opportunities for improvement to enhance efficiency and streamline operations.Recommend and implement new or revised procedures, workflows, or tools to improve operational effectiveness across the agency.Research and Best Practices:Conduct research on best practices from relevant oversight agencies, documenting findings and proposing areas for improvement.

Preferred Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will:

· Strong written and verbal communication skills.

· Be passionate about diversity, equity, and inclusion and public service.

· Detail-oriented with excellent organizational abilities.

· Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.

· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) or similar tools.

· Previous internship or work experience in administrative support, communications, or operations is a plus.

Schedule: estimated up to 30 hours per week
Shift: Day
Hourly rate: $18 to $35 per hour
Anticipated Start Date: January 2025
End Date: June 2025
