This position reports to the MHC Port Supervisor.
What you will do:
The Solids/Liquids Operator is responsible for the continuous operation of the Nutrien-operated port facility located in Morehead City, NC. An important aspect of the Operator is to maintain the highest level of safety to avert or prevent the possibility of accidents from occurring while performing the tasks related to the port operations. These activities are essential to cost-effective operations and require strict attention to detail to meet internal and external customer needs. The Operator requires superior cognitive skills and personal skills to operate the shipping process equipment and to communicate with others during the shift.
Duties include but are not limited to:
Operating equipment in the loading/unloading of barges, vessels, rail cars, trucks and conducting periodic inspections, maintaining and operating equipment systems in a safe and environmentally responsible manner. Helping with mechanical and/or electrical repairs and maintenance as needed. Being responsible for work outcomes of the assigned area, such as conducting daily inspections, coordinating repairs, product movement, and reaching planned daily goals. Participating in the Nutrien permitting process by properly completing all necessary permits, such as Lockout/Tagout, Hot Work, Confined Space, and Safe Work. Operating the loading/unloading equipment at the facility: Bucket wheel Drag reclaimer Ship loader
What you will bring:
The National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC) testing is required for all hourly applicants of Nutrien. Applicants must complete this test and meet a minimum of 5 in Workplace Documents, 5 on Applied Mathematics and 4 on Graphic Literacy to be considered eligible for employment with Nutrien.
Preferred Education and Experience:
High School diploma or equivalent is preferred Ability to talk and give instructions to others while focusing on the task of unloading and loading Fertilizer product Experience in industrial and/or commercial setting Thorough knowledge of safety procedures and legal regulations/guidelines Prior operating experience is preferred but not necessary to operate all the mobile equipment being operated in the un/loading area including a 10-yard front-end loader, and ½ yard bobcat loader.
Compensation & Benefits:
Starting rate $25.88 per hour (plus available overtime).
Nutrien offers a skills-based pay compensation program. Hourly rates can progresses based on On-Job-Training, formal learning, and observation of new skills. Hourly rates can progress from starting rate of $25.00 to $34.25 per hour over a specified time period.
